What You Need to Know About Drag Radials

-
I would like to add one thing that this article for got to add. Is the new M/T ET Street Radial Pro is not streetable. I didnt know this untill i got a set in and was reading the side wall. Even though they came with a DOT number they had Not for Street Use on the side wall. No big to me but it would suck for some body that bought a set and was going to drive them on the street.

Good information. So pretty much EVERYONE was telling me I wasn't doing enought burnout the day I went to the track. Looks like they were completley wrong about that. I was doing too much burnout according to this article.

The "DOT race tires" are a sham. It is a way of getitng tires approved for race use, with no real meaning. This is not a "real" DOT rating in the "usual" sense of the word.

Yea the dot stuff is just so you can get into street tire races. I have had the hoosier quick time pros for a while now and have driven them on the street for a while now. Police haven't said anything so far :)

Some good info m/t drag radials are the best i've tried..b.f.g's are "garbage" waste of money!!

I'm going to put a drag radial on my hoopty. It has et streets 28x13.5.I'm going with 28x11.5 drag radials

Last year I carried my 315/60 MT Drag Radials and my 29.5/10.5 W M/T slicks with me to T&T and made 3 passes with both and the drag radials were over a tenth faster. I will never buy another set of slicks.

Most people I know, are running quicker & more consistent with D/R's over slicks. My personal observation, anyway. Thanks for posting,B.D..

I agree car hooks up much better with drag radials..sold my slicks.

How do the drag radials react to different track prep without any other suspension tuning. I mean good track prep to minimal almost no prep. I run at different tracks and I don't want to have to change anything other than say air pressure. Is it possible to run with a smaller radial or should I run the biggest tire to compensate for different conditions. Does any of this make sense, and I forgot to mention I would like to run on the street.

i really like my nitto dr they might not have the best traction of them all but they are the best for my use they hook good and drive as good as a radial ta on the street and last the best .

This is what most people fail to understand about drag radials.

Look at the rim to tire ratio.

I went as far as to try this on a bias ply and guess what? It liked it. I can run more pressure and hook up just as good.
