What's My RearEnd???

I’m not too familiar with differentials. I’m putting a larger bolt pattern and power disk brake system in my 71 Valiant from a 74 Dart Swinger. The rear-end is quite a bit larger and I’m hot sure what it is.....8 3/4??? , 8 1/4??? or???? It has a 10 bolt cover and a front right side fill plug. The donor car had a 318 if that makes a difference. Can anyone help????

i'm going to have to say 8 1/4...if its mopar...the 8 3/4 doesnt have bolts on the back side it looks way different, and the dana has a indent in the cover. thats what i think but i coudl be wrong(probably) if not mopar rear

Yup, 10 bolt rear cover, pinion snubber, and out of a 74 Dart - it's a Mopar 8.25" rear end all right. The one in front of it is a 7.25" A body rear end.

I just put one in my Dart. It's an 8 1/4...cut the driveshaft 1 1/2 to 2 inches and you'll be good to go. :thumblef: The early 8 1/4's had those funny loking ribs running front to back on the top.

grey one is an 8 1/4 and the black one is a 7 1/4.
