Dart has been acting very strange lately. Idles fine, revs fine but occasionally just dies at idle (always at the worst time). New coil, ballast and wire. What could be causing this intermittent problem?

many thanks for your ideas
Steve

Does it start back up? Did you check at the coil for spark? Could be a lot of things

Yep got a spark...and it does start back up, so I don't think anything is getting hot. relpaced coil and ballast already. I thinking a grounding issue since it is so intermittent. Gonna clean out the inline fuel filter and little brass catch filter at the carb to rule that out.

Any other thoughts??? I'm stumped but that aint hard to acheive

thanks in advance for any additional ideas.

Steve

Touch the orange box while its running. If you get a light shock, its bad.

??whut??

The BOX should be grounded.

The transistor/ heat sink is above ground and WILL give you a tingle on any ECU. Some of these, when wet, won't fire correctly. (4x4s in the mud, snow, etc)

brass basket at carb was clean. Fuel filter had some microscopic rust sediment no flakes/chunks. Blew out fine but replaced it anyway due to the sediment.
