Can anybody tell me where to find the correct early-a strut rod bushings? The guys who have always worked on my car are great, honest, etc., but not Mopar guys. They keep getting the wrong bushings and meanwhile a month has gone by and my car is sitting there. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....thanks.

I got mine from NAPA but found when I order parts from them to get the correct parts I have to order them for a Valiant because if I say Barracuda they give me 67 up parts.

K7040 is the Moog part # for early cudas 64-69. They should be available via most suppliers.

Thanks a million you guys I will talk to the guys at the shop tomorro and see what's up and pass on the info you gave me.

Actually the "correct" ones are not the greatest, they tended to fall apart after a few years. You can still find them NOS & Moog may still supply near duplicates of the stock ones. They also had / have problem solver bushings with a different design where the outer concave washer is reversed. Doesn't look quite stock but a much better design.

What's the difference between the early and late strut rods? Global West (I think) recently introduced strut rods with a spherical joint on the end and I was hoping to get a pair for my '63 but I think they may be '67 up. What would need modifying to make them work?

I purchased this kit a few weeks ago and installed.. are very nice.. They replaced my 4 year old PST bushings which were falling apart.

I found the correct ones at NAPA, like chryslerfat says ask for Valiant bushings. Thanks again for the help guys.

Once I saw how much better that moog kit looked, I wouldn't go back to their design even if it was free..

The original design is 1-piece rubber. It is very hard to squeeze the rubber thru the hole in the K-member, plus it doesn't last well. If you really want for a historic restoration, I recall at RockAuto or Autozone ~$10/set. Energy Suspension has a poly version PN 5.7105R (red or G=black), which I got from Autozone for $13/set and returned when I found it was the old design. I expected they would be hard to install.

Much better is Moog's "improved design", which is two hard rubber disks that clamp from both sides, ~$30 (rockauto I recall). I installed the poly version from Energy Suspension, PN 5.7109G (black) $24, which I found on the shelf at Tognottis Auto World. Polyurethane is stiffer than rubber and lasts longer, especially around hot oil. I used it for ball joint and tie rod boots also.

Re PST quality, as a small data point I bought a PST front suspension kit for my '65 Newport (C-body) ~15 years ago. Pricey ($200), but it seemed easy 1-stop shopping, the ads were slick, and no web then to shop around. The quality looked basic, but perhaps genuine Moog parts. Probably good for historic restoration, but I prefer improved designs if available. I could probably have gotten parts cheaper piecemeal, especially today with ebay. One rubber ball joint boot cracked since, but I fixed by wrapping w/ self-fusing silicone tape.
