So apparently they made 3 in '76. How do you tell 'em apart? any tell tale casting # or stamp??? Couldnt someone up the carb on the 2bbl 360 and then all three would appear the same?

help please

thanks

Yes, absoulutely so. Theres no real difference in any 360 short block except police motors (E-58 IIRC) that came stock with windage trays, double roller timing chain sets.

If you have a 360 now and want to "UP" the anti, just install the cam you want and mill (for a reasonable ratio) and port the heads. Add your headers and 4bbl carb and intake.

The biggest problem with the stock 360 engines are;

Nylon timing chain and gear are crap
Low compresion
Rotors on the valve springs
Broom stick cam and to a lesser extent, small intake valve @ 1.88. Which will perform preety danm well in most street rides.

thanks!

I think I'm going in after that chain soon!! wasn't sure what I was gonna tell the parts counter guy if asked.

Yea, a new double roller chain will do ya good. Cloyes, roll master, that'lllll do ya good.

Thats good advise about the 360 tc and gears. Something you might not know is that the 360 has one of the longest timing chains of all sb v8's,so a timing tensioner is a very good plan.
