Which do you prefer automatic/manual valve body or a shift kit in a sb 727

I've always had full manual shift Torqueflights with reverse shift patterns so they upshift away from reverse. Full auto is boring :D

I like the valve body from CRT which has low band apply in 1st gear for added safety.

as a kid i liked the reverse manual valve body. these days i prefer the automatic. around town and on trips i let the trans do its thing. if i want to race it i'll manually shift. best of both worlds..
 
Turbo action reverse full manual here..on the column too..
 
I currently have a Turbo Action RMVB in 73 Duster...going back to the Turbo Action Pro Street VB once i can find all the kickdown parts again...

If you shift at low rpms the shifts aren't too harsh. It's really up to how you drive it.
 
As abodyjoe says, a lot depends on your driving habits. If you do a lot of drag racing then the full manual/reverse pattern valve body is the way to go. If you do more street/highway driving then let the transmission do the shifting for you. Any city/stop and go traffic, you'll probably soon tire of having to constantly shift the transmission. A manual valve body to me is the same as a stick car, you can soon lose the "fun" of rowing the shifter.
Also oldkimmer mentioned the TF-2 Transgo shift kit. As he says, with this kit you can have the best of both worlds - fully automatic, or wham bam thank you mam.

Others may disagree.
 
I have a full manual forward pattern turbo action . the shift from 1st to 2nd is pretty harsh at low rpm . if it was a daily driver or I was an old fart I would not recommended it. But I'm a trouble maker and do not prefer low rpm shifting .
On the flip side for me I have a torquey stroker with 391 gears , I could just leave from 3rd and never touch it lol
