I went with the LA timing cover when I did the 5.9 magnum swap. I had good luck with my carter mechanical fuel pump, figured it would look more period correct. Fast forward a couple years and the alternator brackets I rigged up keep throwing belts, the power steering pump I've attemped to rebuild 3 times is still leaking and I could care less how it looks.

Serpentine belt would be nice, electric pump is the main con.......

I don't have power steering but I am running a stock LA alternator bracket with a spacer and some stacked washers and haven't had any issues. The main thing is just getting the pulleys to line up well enough. I tried many combinations of pulleys before finding something that worked. I can take a picture if you're interested.

I think I got it figured out, the lower bolt wasn’t spaced right and it caused the pulley to line up crooked. Used a straight edge off the water pump pulley.

Now I just have to figure out the leaking power steering pump. Looks like the giant o ring between the pump and reservoir is the culprit.
