I was thinking of an air wolf headed 360 for my 65 Cuda and looking for 500hp/500lbs-ft, but as I'm dumping $120 for just over 200 miles in my 5.9l Jeep, lucky I live a only couple of miles from work, I don't really need another pig on gas also got 1980 Bronco with a 400.

So I'm think of keeping the 273 and turbo it, for now I'll build the engine and add a turbo/s latter, I was figuring .30 over custom forged flat top piston zero decked and a .35 quench and scat rods added to the factory forged crank, ported out 302 heads and cc'd to give a 9:1cr and a highlift 262ish cam and a airgap intake and for now stock manifolds until the turbo swap. Also before the turbo swap I want to EFI and 5 speed.

I've read a build on a stock 2v ford 4.6l and $500 eBay t76 turbo 9.6 boost got 500hp, I'm assuming that would work with my 273? Looking for pump gas 500/500 hp/tq engine, also what RPM do I want the turbo/s start to come in and at max boost, I'm thinking peak power is gonna be 6000-65000 and a 7000 redline.

That or a B/W S400 with a .96 a/r turbine housing. There is one on ebay now new for $600

I'm only looking for 500hp at the crank

I've been recommended to use Twin T3/T4 any certain Specs and Brand I should be looking for? This will be a street car

Do the Math.....and tell me how many CFM.......YOUR 273 is gonna flow before you turbo charge it......and why would you install a $4000 turbo system on a car to increase the power 100 hp/100 ft lbs?

Then.....I am going to tell you

THE PROPER turbo for your setup will make 500 HORESPOWER at the wheels on 7 psi.....which in terms of boost is SToopid low.

You can get a smaller turbo and try to overcome all the adiabatic ineffiencies how ever you choose.......but its gonna boil down to:

YOU NEED 70 Millimeter compressor inducer and a 76-80mm turbine exducer.

Next ?

Is $4000 for a turbo system worth 100hp to you?......I only ask because a proper system is worth 300-1000 hp capability on (1) turbo.

Properly sized turbo installed.......you want FULL boost below 3000 rpm WOT......and peak Torque will occur at Full Boost RPM.....and peak Horsepower will be at 62-6300ish RPM.

You'll need at least a T4 Frame turbo..... 40mm of wastegate.....and a 50mm blow off valve.

You should consider a intercooling method.....for any boost over
10 psi

500 pump gas hp is a joke........with forced induction.

Honda's do that......:wack:

I'm not against making 500hp at the wheel especially at 7 psi, the 273 in N/A form probably be will be making 250-300hp at the crank
