while i got the valve cover off...

i got the valve cover off to replace the gasket and i noticed that some of the rockers are a bit loose are they supposed to have a bit of play or should i tighten them up at this point it a stock 225 slant six if that matters please respond quickly cause i need this done today

They should be adjusted. I don't recal the clearence. I do beleive all the /6's had mechanical cams, but I could be wrong.

They were all mechanical cams until about 85 I think. I'm not real sure on that. Either way yes there should be some play in there when the lifter is on the base circle of the camshaft. .010" on the intakes and .020" on the exhaust, again I think, that's from memory and as we all have seen mine isn't that great anymore.

thanks i'll have to pull the cover off again one day and adjust them i think
