Hey, all. I'm trying to darken my patina paint job. I brought it out to a polish from 600 grit to 3000 and the blue ended up lightening up a little too much and the undercoat (original color) started shining through heavily in areas. If at all possible, I want everything to come out darker and have been considering dyes and acetone or mixing in dyes with penetrol to seal it all in and make it pop. This is my first rodeo. I'm not certain if any of this will work. But hopefully someone else has been here and has some good advice/pics of what they did. I was going to use a powder-based dye in acetone or in the penetrol. I'm just wondering can I dye the existing paint job before the penetrol or not? Also, I'll be painting on stripes and was wondering if that can go over the penetrol coat or does it need to be underneath it.
