Who Knows A Lot About Home Security Cameras for The Driveway? Recommendations.

My left side tires on my driver car, 17 Accord, 2 door, (sorry) got punctured Friday night, sometime.

After this incident, i guess it's now the time to invest in a security camera for the outside-driveway.

I'm totally confused with the amount of systems that there on the market.

Solar, wired, subscription type.

What the heck do i need and look for?

What do you guys have, to give me a heads up on what to purchase?

It’s very confusing. If you have a Ring doorbell already, they sell cameras also.

I like the wireless style that plug into ac power. You don’t need to worry about batteries.
 
If you have location issues, how about a game trail camera? They are an independent system, battery powered, motion activated and work well at night.

We went with Arlo when we lived in Georgia. Bought two camers; mounted one over the front door and one looking over the driveway.

They are rechargeable and depending on how much it comes on is how often you have to recharge. To recharge, I looped the extension cord around the camera and attached the short recharge cable.

We opted for the unit that allows up to 30 days of saved recording. The inside unit is similar to a modem. It cost us around $11 a month. We liked it and will probably do the same at our new house (I left everything attached to the house we sold).
 
In my opinion it all boils down to what your intent is with the system. Do you want external cameras only, or a full-on alarm system for your home/residence? If you only want to record an event external to the residence, a simple camera set-up may suffice (SimpliSafe, Ring, etc). Sure, they offer "monitoring", and the apps can be set to notify you if/when there is activity, but most of the time the monitoring isn't local, and based on personal experience I bet many people turn-off the notifications due to nuisance trips and "false alarms".

Of course you can go all the way up to a full-on alarm system with a CCTV setup recording to a HDD/server....

Once you get over the initial feelings of violation and insecurity, a call to a local alarm/home security company may be in order.
 
I went with Arlo wireless with solar panels no need to recharge. They are limited as to the range of your WIFI and I had to move one because it was three exterior walls away and wouldn't work all the time. I understand the signal can be hacked but I expect to see any smart thieves around here.
 
Seriously though. We bought this a while back to battle a rodent problem. Worked well and very inexpensive!

Thanks AL. I'm sold. Already put one on order. Great price and great reviews. Arlo is not $350 better in my opinion!!

I put mine on an extension cord and a makeshift light socket and placed it any where I wanted !
 
On a slightly different path, my son had trouble with vagrants when he lived in Texas. He bought one of those “we don’t call 911” signs & hung it on the house. Problem solved.
 
I have had Aiwit brand cameras for a few years now, they are ok, and solar powered so I don't have to worry about the power being disconnected. They are linked to my cell phone and until recently they worked pretty well. The problem now is they keep giving me an error message saying there is no micro SD card, therefore they do not record, but still show live video/audio. I have new SD cards coming, so I will see if that solves the problem. If not, they were only about $100 each, so we'll look for new ones.
 
I looked into them, and most required a monthly/annual fees of some sort, and lotsa software tracking complaints.
I'm just so done with monthly fees.
