ANOTHER ANNOYING story from the old days
At the very hint of rising gas prices/ shortage back in the early '70's, I decided to play with my 70 440 RR. It had long since "lost" the 6bbl, and had an Ed 180 intake and various Holley mostly DP from 650-850 at some point
I "landed" a little tiny Rochester 2 jet off a small inch Poncho. This is the SMALL 2 jet, like came on 265/ 283 Chevs. Anyhow I got that all adapted up to the 440 and was AMAZED at how little power it made. I don't think I had it on there for more than a week, and have no memory of "what I decided" it would do MPG wise

Next he should make a custom manifold and put 8 of them on. 302 8 pack
