Window lock stip for 67 Barracuda

-
Anyone try useing the after market stuff (eg. selling on ebay).
If so how did it work/fit?

Unless you have the correct corners it ain't worth 10 cents because it will never look like it suppose to. You can get the corners for a 67 cuda from R/T Specialties from my understanding. The back glass requires one piece that meets in the top center of the back glass.

Welcome to FABO!!

There are pics in a thread here somewhere of that stuff shrnking in length. Enough to come out from under the corner pieces. I dont recall where it was purchased or what time span was involved. We all know it yellows over time. Having said that, one could buy a whole lot of new lock strip for what the stainless reveal upgrade would cost. Good luck

I haven`t tried the stuff on Ebay but I did spend stupid money for the one-piece strip for my convertible windshield I bought through Year One. It shrunk about an inch (or more) in a little over a year leaving a horrible gap at the A-pillar. I would ask whoever you source your lockstrip from if they`ve had any problems with the material shrinking.

You're right about that. I bought the front and rear gaskets from Steele Rubber Products (supposed to be the best) for a 68 cuda for 263.33. I bought the front and back stainless from a fellow... I think it was around $100. Can't remember exactly but let's just say $100. I'm going to get the glass removed and reinstalled with the clips. Don't know exactly how much that's going to cost but let's say $200. But for me the paint around the gaskets and the gaskets themselves look like crap so installing the push in vinyl won't totally fix my problem. I'm going to get the car repainted around the edges where the gaskets go but I'm not going to add that in because most people probably don't need there's painted.

263.33

563.33 or more of course. I'm sure it will run me more than that. lol!

Safelite auto glass did mine converted my 67 over to the 68 trim and all for a 50 deductable, check your insurance out.

Man I don't think my Hagerty insurance would want to cover that... at least I wouldn't think they would. I need to check sure enough. One thing however I would be the one installing the glass, the clips, the trim, etc... that's what I do for a living. So right now as it stands the only thing I would have to pay for is the back glass (it has a awful scratch and needs replaced) The old cars are a PITA compared to the modern cars.

Thanks for the info.
