Window trim

Just wondering if anybody knows if I have to put the chrome trim around the windshield and back windshield of my '74 dart. I don't want the Chrome on there but I also don't want it to leak. Does anybody know if the trim is purely cosmetic or does it serve a purpose for preventing leaks?

Did you have a new vinyl roof installed without cleaning up and painting the rust around the window?

some of the older a bodies had a 3 groove seal that had a skinny chrome locking strip in the middle of the seal. That would be good for what you are wanting to do but I'm not sure what the last year make and model that was offered. Im thinking 1966 but could be wrong.
