Windshield wipers

I can't figure out how to get my windshield wipers off. Can anyone help me? Also, the springs are really weak. Is there somewhere I can get new ones, or a trick to tighten up the old ones? It's a '65 Dart wagon. Thanks in advance.

I bought this tool from Yearone.com. T81/ Wiper arm remover. Works really well.
I think it was around $6.00.

You can do it by hand if you just counter the spring in the arm.
Have always done it this way.

There's a little clip/tab by the base that you have to retract before lifting on the arm...

Post #4 is correct. I just went out and looked at my 64 & 65, which both have the wipers off. 1964 has a top nut. You rotate the chrome cover up to access it (my 96 & 02 minivans are same, though no chrome). 1965 started the clip method (same for my 65 Newport & I recall my 69 Dart). You push up on the clip (underneath wiper rod) to release it. Put down a thick rag so you don't chip the paint.

Not to argue with you or anything Bill, just sayin.
I have never had to mess with the clip, just pushed down on the sprung joint and up on the end that goes over the splined rod at the same time.

It does take some finger strength, so maybe that's why people always have this problem.
AND probably why they make a tool for it.
