Wiper blades & heat

Is there anything I can do to prolong the life of the blade besides trying to park in the shade?

I don't have allot of shade, it's been over 100 most days, where I live it rains 2-4 days a week in the late afternoon (torrential downpour). I think I might be buying blades once a month. Except for Rockauto, good blades are not cheap.

The folks in New Mexico & Arizona must be familiar with this dilemma.
 
The UV rays from the sun do a good job killing rubber so short of keeping the blades covered, there's not much that can be done. The heat doesn't help either.

Oh yea, we are.
I found the RainX brand blades last about three times longer than all the others I tried.
I used to have to replace them every 6 months or so since I have no shade to park in either and the last set of RainX has made it well into their second summer so far and still work great.
And I HATE messed up wiper blades, so :D

Like you said, not cheap but if I'm going to buy something not cheap it's nice that they last 3-4 times longer.

I keep a mental list of the best longest lasting products on the market that I use.
RainX for rain on the windows.
RainX wiper blades.
Dunlop dirt bike tires.
Felpro printOseal gaskets
Permatex sealants
3m adhesives.

Well, you get the idea. :D

Replace about every year - usually when we get the monsoon (usually notice they're shot the first time I really need them)

I use the black frame clip on's that fit the OE arm perfect and they only come as a whole non refillable unit.

Ain't that the truth.
"OH CRAP all the sudden it's pouring rain with blue sky's"
"OH CRAP my wiper blades suck" :D
Then it's hard to make yourself do it 10 min later when it's clear again.
 
I see people almost everyday replace good, stainless wiper blade frames with crappy plastic ones. My truck had BS plastic replacements on it when I got it. I hawked Ebay several weeks until I found some original Ford stainless wiper blade frames. People just buy things and don't even think about what they're doing.

Oh I thought about it.
I thought "I want something on there that works well and I can get it anywhere any day of the week".
That's what's on there.

Mine too. I can get 15" refills near bout anywhere. Even Wal Mart.
 
Just a reminder that the Trico refills are not cut to the full length advertised. If you want to trust their short refill to stay in the blade, fine. I would not.
If I could trade some high quality wipers for some of that good rainfall you get....
