We are working on a 1973 Duster which had a 2 speed wiper motor. My brother changed his wiper motor and switch to a 3 speed set up. The 3 speed motor has 4 wires coming from the motor about 10 inches long to a 4 pin plug, two flat pins above and two directly below those. Is there another harness that would plug into that and the other end would plug into the junction block. I am not sure what the motor and switch are out of. Could it be he needs a specific 1973 Duster motor or are we just missing that adapter/extension harness. Thanks Bobby
 
Not sure about that harness, pictures? You should have an other problem, the wiper linkage that attaches to the motor is different between the 2 speed, 3 speed and variable motors.
 
I think the linkage was on the motor when he got it and it hooked up to his transmission fine. I'll go to his house and get some pictures. Thanks .

The second picture is the harness from the 3 speed wiper motor which is too short to plug into the junction box and also not the correct type of plug. This is the number off the 3 speed wiper motor 3799024. When I googled that number it came up as fitting A B and C bodies. Any ideas? Thanks Bobby

I think we need an adapter to join the two plugs but I'm not sure. That harness from year one looks like the same harness that came on the car with a 2 speed motor. Never thought to go look at year one, I'll go check . Thanks Aaron
 
Hey Bobby i don't know where you could get an adaptor unless you could get the service manuals and make something up yourself .

I'll bet if Year None doesn't have it that M&H might, but you would have to call them. Or Evans.
Hey Steve that's a great idea to give m&h or Evens a call i bet they would make something up to work that would look factory .
 
I spoke to Darren?? Darrell? Great guy. At M&H, about a cargo light harness for our fastback. They could make it relatively cheap, but it was a 6 month wait. VERY busy.
Depending on the level of Bobby's friend Duster, it would be tempting to make one yourself.

Don't know how that's going to work on a 73 Duster.
3799024 motor fits 75-77 Fury, Coronet and Cordoba.
They have different pivots, linkages and switch.
Best to get complete 3 speed setup from 73 thru 76 Abodies.
 
M&H makes the harness' for Year One. Evans wiring is a family biz that comes highly recommended.
I checked year one and they only show 2 speed motors and harness.

Aaron We do have the service manual and making a harness will be a last resort.

That makes sense. I think he got the 3 speed motor from a fellow that has a Cordoba. Not sure what the switch comes from.
It works now at one speed with a jumper wire but we want to hook it up correctly and have all speeds working.

When you say "junction block" are you referring to the bulkhead connector? If so, try removing the 4 wires from your plug and putting them into an empty wiper bulkhead connector socket (providing the wire terminals are the same). Checking the wiring diagram, you'll be able to figure out which wires go where. Just a thought.
 
No sweat Bobby, I'm no help with the wiring specifically , but you can use any pair of mating electrical blocks. For example our 67 fb has an elec plug(male and female) for part of rear harness that accepts 6 wires. You could use one of those.

Why not not just stay with a 2-speed motor? It's really all that's needed. Hell, I have never used the wipers on any of my 3 cars.
 
I spoke with a couple of local mopar guys this afternoon and it looks like we need an a-body wiper motor unless we want to modify the harness. Sorry I was saying junction block but I should have said bulkhead connector. I also left out an important piece of information, the car has a 6 barrel intake and the air breather hits the 2 speed motor. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Next step is going to be a wanted ad. Bobby

Did you look into changing the plug as I mentioned earlier? I believe the motors are all the same as they can be clocked in several different ways depending on body platform. The OEM service manual shows the positions for each respective platform.

Get the motor harness like this (by removing them from the plug that they are connected to), and plug them into your bulkhead connector after you remove the 2 speed wires (or get another plug)

Don't forget.......You will need the A body crank arm from a 3 speed set up.....There are tons of applications. But.....The other linkage parts are the same between 2 and 3 speed set ups.
