OK here's the skinny 1969 barracuda fastback, when i got this car eng bay harness had been chopped like nothing ide ever seen before, and park lights would not work with any headlight switch. A buddy of mine jumped p\lights off ign source, and we managed to make everything work ok.
So now im back at it, used a 71 demon eng bay harness and now i turn ign to start and horn honks?!? I have pulled entire dash and eng harness out and am going to attempt to rebuild on bench , i was also getting a donk noise every 3 to 5 seconds and no charge at batt. noise sounds like relay going off, anyway i pulled the wiper plug off back of switch and noise and pulsing went away? this should be a fun adventure. I have also aquired center console and harness(still looking for mount brackets), and i dont see where harness plugs into, wondering if it comes fwd from rear harness or where?
Dash harness looks untouched other then splice at lighter on pass side??
Any insight would help

First do you have a legitimate FACTORY service manual, either paper or CD or BOTH? Nothing less will do

Second, take each problem "one at a time." Now there ARE weird things that can happen and cause strange backfeed problems

For example, one member on here (might have been OldManMopar) told of when they were kids, they found out they could listen to the radio with no key!!

I don't remember exactly, but I think you turned on the 4X flasher, stepped on the brake, and maybe flipped the signal lever one way or the other. In any case, "all this" caused a backfeed condition which allowed the radio to work -- as long as your foot was on the brake!!

I don't know how much different the 71 harness might be. You can download SOME manuals for free here:

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=132309&highlight=manual,+download

About the first thing I'd do is string the harness out, take an audible (if possible) continuity checker, or a light, and find out which bulkhead terminal each and every wire hooks to.

IF this is a complete harness, there's a couple of wires that do not go to the bulkhead, IE the green field connector for the alternator (push on) goes up to the regulator plug and nowhere else. If you have the electronic ignition harness intact, one wire from the ECU goes to coil neg (eyelet)

Running your park lights off the ignition is a REAL bad idea, as the ignition line is ALREADY somewhat loaded, and is NOT fused.

Post back here and we'll try'n walk you through

Photos here and there might help, too.

Just at a glance there is already a difference in demon harness trans wires were on wiper plug ( first plug on left) now in middle plug. I will know better tomorrow any ideas on console plug ?? Could not d/l 69 manual on link 404 error . I have found out that 67 to 69 cuda has different part# for harness

The 69 link was fixed later in the thread. Here's the link. It's for a Dart, however, not Plymouth/ Cuda. Most of it should be same, unless you have a Rally dash

The 71 manual in that thread has no wiring, the "71 wiring" is basically the same as the stuff at MyMopar, and may not be entirely accurate

I guess what I'd do is make as much as you can samo as the 69, as that? is what your dash harness is?

The 70/ later alternator/ regulator wiring can stay if you want to use the 70 regulator, but you'll need a 70/ later alternator as well (two field connections)

The 72 manual at the start of that thread is also very useful "just to have:"

There are a whole bunch of differences in the 69 harness and the 70 up harness including that console harness.
if you have all 69 car ( Ignition in the dash, etc. ) it will be easier to restore the correct wiring harness than to adapt the later model harness to the pre 70 car.
To do it right would include a few upgrades to the 69 harness in problem prone areas. Accesories like hazard lights, wipers, horn, should and would remain unchanged.
Those are where your problems will be multiplied in what you are trying.

console harness should come forward toward dash and plug into the dash harness. There should be a console feed, but not in all harnesses. As suggested use a schematic it should be marked I believe the wire is orange same that illuminates the radio.

His 69 will have the reverse lamp switch at the shifter so his console harness will have those 2 wires. A 71 under dash harness has nowhere to plug those in . Those 2 wires are routed through the bulkhead connector from 1970 up.
If he uses a later model trans and 3 post neutral safety switch he can use the 70 up trans harness and forget 2 of the wires in his console harness.
His console harness would then need only the orange wire for the shift indicator lamp and optional pink wire for a lighter well in the console.
So that's one of the differences addressed. Only umpteen more to go :)
