Some guy driving down the street sees me working on my car and stops...
Talks about the car and long story short, offers me $35,000 cash....
Said I'd think about it. .....

I DON'T want to sell my baby....but damn......

Jeff

that would even tempt me and I am usually a hoarder.

that is a lot of money.

Most likely a BSer. Had plenty of them hit me up over the years.

You call them on it and they have every excuse in the book for not following through in most every case.

I know you like the car, BUT, I would have told him go get the cash and we'll hit up my bank!

I don't remember specifics - but I do remember a few posts where it gave you fits! Now you're there - NFS!
Of course she gave fits....and more to come I'm sure!
It's a love hate relationship. ......

She is a sweet ride....and I've worked my *** off on her....

Kinda shocked at that offer though? ?!!!!

Jeff

That was the day two fools met! Him for offering 35G's and you for not taking him up on it. Please don't take this personal, this was my first thought.

That is far more that what that would typically sell for on the open market.

But don't forget, many times guys talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

And others (hustlers) will throw a number out to open a "selling conversation". They get closer to the sale and then the excuses, "well I didn't realize it wasn't a: original paint, original motor, formula S, etc, etc" and then offer a consolation amount, "so I'll have to offer you $$$$. But if it were those other things I would have gladly paid $35K"

decisions based solely on emotion almost always guarantee failure.

Keep it! In my opinion, this car is yours, because it's the way you built it. Just my two pesos....

I drive mine around a lot and get offers often (not for $35k though). Usually at stop lights, the gas station, parking lots......never had a single one follow through.

"You willing to sell it?"
"It's for sale"
"How much you want?"
"$13k cash or gold"
"welll, ummm, let me talk to my wife, errrr uh, check with my bank, uhhhh, derrrr I'll get back to you..."

Jeff. It took me ten years to find my 67 fb. Then took 3 years to build my car. Everything my self. Including everything, accept the actual shooting the paint. I have at least 35000 in my personal labor. But the fact is we both love are barracudas. At car shows I get offered several offers. However I enjoy the car too much to give up.

So would you rather have 1/2 a hellcat or your car?

If you ever see him again it'll be when he stops in and say's his wife said he could only give you ten.

I wouldn't take a new car if somebody paid me.

I believe he means "new to him" project to start over again.

$35k is some serious money. Honestly you can build a lot of car for that, maybe even find your dream car (assuming your's isn't already). But I doubt any of us does it for the money. I sure don't.
