Just curious to know if there is a real benefit to do a head swap to indy x heads on a temperamental 360. My current heads are stock non ported heads. Car runs good now. But the curiousity bug always lingers @ the back of my head!! Or would edelbrock heads be better?

Meant stock 2.02 x heads with hardened seats.

They are a nice but heavy iron head with improvements over stock.
Pros, nice machined valve cover gasket surface.
did away with the water in the exhaust bolt holes.
cons, I had to extend my alternator bracket to raise above the head from interference and get a longer belt.
exhaust port differs from 340 X heads but seem not to have any sealing problems.
This is 340 info, they used the 360 exhaust port design.
    I`m happy with them.

I removed my 202/160 j heads and installed IMM ported LAX. No other changes, car picked up .4 in the 1/4. I run a XS274S Comp Cam which is not even taking full advantage of the head flow.

Depends on your perspective. IMO it's not worth changing unless you get the weight bonus too. The costs are too similar in getting them on the car running to bother with heads that weight a bit more than the factory ones do.

He did ask about indy x heads... 1st. ..of which you have no experience with to weigh against the edelbrock.

Sub .500 lift cam, you'll probably pick up 20 hp tops. The indy x from Brian /Imm are the versions I'm referencing. The 894 x top out around 220cfm "with a good set" and the. 300 lift is around 188 cfm...so you get a decent bump in flow... then the slight bump in compression. It adds up. You weigh the cost . Have fun.

I must have caught the 1st draft before edit time shows. I will now, but really I wasnt quoting you in the 1st place... however an alternator bracket mod is nothing for a good set of heads..and you dont really acknowledge or account the different versions... aka whole picture.imo Your list of pros isn't complete, to be fair.
I can port a set of x j 308 574 that will ride with them no prob, but they are good.

Go with Brian's imm version of the indy x and it won't matter how light weight the edelbrock is...

Eventually down the road I plan to swap out heads for some improvements. Now just want to do changes with the parts I have stashed! For instance now got 3.55s and will go to 3.91s. Now got 280 mopar cam will go 292 hotter mopar cam, etc.
