Z Bar modification question.

I have an 8in slant six z bar and I need to shorten in an inch to get it to fit with my small block. where should I cut the inch out from? the end? the middle? Thanks

I assume you are speaking of 67 and newer A-body. You need to take the 1" off the tube on the engine side, do not cut it out of the middle or move the welded arms.
