7 1/4' not too weak for a 318.

Some of these shields are for around the inside of the headlight area.

4" pipe is too small. Need at least 6". This gets expensive. Go to shipping/packing company. I use 6x6 box, extend it for your use and re-enforce with additional boxing or wood.

Early "A" body w/383, '67-'69 w/manual steering. Later "A" body w/383, '68-'69 w/ PS different.

I don't know where to find the spec, but it is torqued to 10/20? inch pounds and backed off a certain amount. This is the only reason I own an inch/pound torque wrench.

You don't need new components, you are simply lacking grease in the right places.

Originally green and yellow caps were rated differently but were same outside dimensions. The red cap was higher rating and physically larger. Now- the difference between green and yellow caps are only the color of the caps. This allows me to select which color cap came originally on my car...

You could remove the steering wheel and inspect where the T/S switch normally goes.
