Good luck Tim and enjoy the journey. Or as my classmate would say as I handed her a map "oh goody, an adventure!"

Searching for 12v switched power after ditching ballast and installing aftermarket electronic ignition

That's possible. Sounds vaguely familiar but I can't claim to know for sure. Operationally the J3 is probably getting power when the relay is triggered by the S2.

    Struggling to find mufflers

You're right. The one I have says Dynomax Similar to the master catalog here. See pages 8-9 for the turbo style https://www.dynomax.com/product-catalog/ or this https://www.dynomax.com/mufflers/super-turbo-mufflers

What dyno is capable of showing vacuum at idle? Com'on. Can even any eddy current setup chassis dyno hold steady or do a stepwise down at 1000 never mind 650 rpm? You want to test a bunch of theoretical changes? There's several decent simulators including pipemax, dynomation, and even more...

Searching for 12v switched power after ditching ballast and installing aftermarket electronic ignition

One of those resistors is 0.5 ohms. One is 5 Ohms. The Ignition start wire (tradtionally J3 and brown) connects to the 0.5 ohm resistor. The branch going to the coil will no longer be used for the coil -so that's an easy place to connect any low current circuit that must be on with the key in...

Searching for 12v switched power after ditching ballast and installing aftermarket electronic ignition

With a Hyfire on a '73, it could be wired liked this with the 12 V switched on connected to any location on the J2 or J3 circuit - as long as they are still connected together. The J2 and J3 connect through the 1/2 ohm resistor. The 5 ohm resistor - if still used in '77 for the first gen...

Searching for 12v switched power after ditching ballast and installing aftermarket electronic ignition

First. You have a '77 Aspen. Many things you may have read about 'all' A-bodies, even if generally true, are different and do not apply to a '76 A body or a '77 F-body. Second. There is nothing on the older starter relays that would be useful for your purposes. The starter relay's stud...

    Struggling to find mufflers

Walker's catalog is pretty good - look up the Dynomax Turbo style mufflers for diameter, offsets and lengths. Another company, maybe a little less prone to drone is Magnaflow https://www.magnaflow.com/collections/performance-muffler Same deal, look up size, length offset, etc. Offset should...

Rewire 67 Dart GT - need recommendations - what's best?

Looking at this photo, even the wiper harness connectors were getting excessively hot. Do you recall what was the ammeter showing? My guess would be it was showing charge and if a voltage check had been made at that time, the alternator output would have shown over 15 Volts. Either the...

Rewire 67 Dart GT - need recommendations - what's best?

Nice follow up on coming around to doing a repair. The question is why the damage in the first place. Maybe just many oxidized and weakened connections, but maybe something else. I've forgotten whether its true for '67 but the convertible motor power lead was often connected to the battery...

    '67 BUCKET SEAT HEADREST FABRICATION.

I have no experience with the bucket seats. With the bench seats, it seams there was mounting in the upper metal and in second support maybe 5 - 6 inches below. Here's a '70 split bench seat back. 67 Bench headrests - which are different than the buckets - at least in shape.

I had my fun! 2000 miles give or take. Right side hood latch would come loose now and then on the way back. Pulled off here at the Lewistown Narrows to relatch it - 8:05 PM according to my photo. Sorry it didn't work out. Maybe I'll catch ya at Carlisle

Carb choice for a mutt motor.

here's how the gages and sender work. Thermal-Electric Gauges (Session 227) from the Master Technician's Service Conference And there's the filmstrip that goes with that. If the temperature and fuel gages are working then its downstream of the IVR. Could be a connection on the board or...

    How does this look?

That's why it seems to 'want' so much advance. In neutral it will be happy with a a lean burn and additional time to make the most with that lean burn. First gear is generally a fairly light load. Obviously an incline helps increase that load but it is not equivalent of a heat soaked engine...

Great advice. The '74 diagrams requires some assembly. The diagram here is redraw of the factory diagram but showing only the main circuits. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/1974-duster-total-electrical-failure-followed-by-quick-recovery.547042/#post-1974415233 Notice where the...

Carb choice for a mutt motor.

Factory range of acceptable timing on engine with initial set at 10* 600 to 650 rpm. This is a good starting point for a non-smog 4 bbl setup. The Chrysler built MP magnetic pickup distributors have a similar curve. Here's one I measured. If the curve is close to these, then its mostly a...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

My opinion @Ant is for what you want, go with one of the cam guys that you're comfortable with. You want to experiment and/or compare? then sure do a DV formula and pick one yourself. You want something that will do what you want withoutout much risk? then go with one of the guys in the...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Yea well that's a rabbit hole, and one argueabley worth putting effort into by a magazine or publisher interested in helping hotrodders. Certainly many of us have been on the edge of this or well into this situation (ie screw up) with both street and race setups. It's a rabbit hole because...

Does this prove David Vizard's 128 lsa formula ?

Exactly. "Willing to lose" suggests that more is better. It's not. Timing is about what the engine wants under that specific condition. The only time less advance is a "loss" is when an engine is was designed to run with a fuel that was more knock resistant than what is actually being used...

It actually looks pretty nicely done. Only things that stand out in the photo are the battery cables showing some bare copper, and that is not exactly uncommon. tripple on the suggestions above regarding the throttle cable and timing. Spend any money you have avail on a timing light, tach, and...

Looks pretty decent. Could become a good driver or whateer you'ld want. These days it seems like its all about creating us and them. A lot of folks eat that up. Grievence culture - all created by 'them' Seems common these days that entertainers are assumed to be great philosophers of our time.
