My 1969 1/2 440 ‘cuda

I’ve noticed that for years. Can get almost any part you need except fenders and doors. Maybe it’s just me but it seems like it’s just the 67-69 Barracudas. And you can’t get a notchback quarter panel, you have to get a fastback and trim it down.

The left fender was a little worse for wear on the inside. Had to replace the dog leg and brace. Body shop did a nice job on it. Fortunately I had a donor fender I was able to use for the brace.

At first I was just going to replace the right side of the radiator core support but later decided to get a whole core support. Cut off all the excess material and cleaned it up real good. The upper portion was a little beat up, my anger management wasn’t working to well. The body shop took care of that for me later.

Great car and good bones!

I just noticed from your pics that the Cudas only had rear torque boxes.

I always thought the big block 67-69 Barracudas had 2 front and 2 rear .

Learn something new every day!!

I have also heard that convertibles got them. I have also heard stories, especially on E bodies, where it is all over the place, like some cars had them rear, some both, some missing one...

It seems like a lot of M-codes came with rears only. My M-code GTS only has rears.

Interesting about the number 63 on the inner fenders. I wonder if the GTS had the same, my GTS is unrestored but I’ve never looked for that.

Got this trunk lid from a fella in Arizona I believe who originally sent me a different trunk lid but the carton got damaged at some point in southern Pennsylvania so he had the option of sending it the rest of the way to Erie, Pa in which case it would not be insured. Or he could collect the insurance on it as damaged merchandise. He chose to collect the insurance and then sent me this one which he had done for his car. Felt kinda bad for him, hope he got another good trunk lid for his car. I scuffed the yellow primer a bit and primered it some more then painted it red. Took it to the body shop to have them do the body work on the outside as it acquired a couple dings from the time I got it to the time it made it to the body shop.

I’d be willing to bet that they probably did. Would be interesting if someone restoring one would find it. One would have to carefully sand it down. I didn’t notice mine till just recently, like 19 years later while looking through my old pictures. The fact that my car is red and the grease pen they used was an orange color made it a little difficult to notice. You had to be looking at the right angle. I think just about any other color of car would make it show up much easier.

Drivers side door. Looked pretty good until I stripped it down. Whole lotta dings and dents.

Passenger door, not any better than the drivers door. Both doors had a crease in the middle like they had been opened really hard when parked to close to a metal sign.

Interior panels and sun visors cleaned up real nice. Amazing what Purple Power and a little elbow grease can do.

Cleaned the seats with Purple Power and elbow grease. Had to figure out how to clean the cargo door and floor piece. I knew the material wouldn’t hold up too well to liquid. After several minutes of pondering how to make it look good I got a brainstorm. It looked like the cargo floor was stained with oil, so I took a few drops of clean oil and rubbed it around the area that didn’t look stained. Presto, it was a perfect match.

Cleaned up the gas tank with paint stripper to get some under coating and all the gunk off of it. Painted it with Rustoleum chrome to give it that new look. Hung it it my attic to dry for four months. When I touched it after four months I still got a very slight amount of silver on my finger. That stuff never totally dries

Hood scoops needed a little body work so I decided to give it a try knowing full well they would probably not turn out very good. I would have to say they looked fair. Did them a second time and they turned out a little better. Going to keep practicing it till I get it right. As bad as the reverse lights looked when I started on them they cleaned up very nice.

Steering wheel cleaned up nicely with some fine steel wool. Had to fix one crack in it with epoxy. Wire wheeled the whole dash then had to try and figure out where to hang it so I could paint it.

Stupid me, just had to follow my buddy into the local dirt track late at night. Like an idiot I stayed close to him till the dust was so thick I couldn’t see. Decided to slow down and when I could finally see, there was a pole heading right toward me. Hung a sharp left and slammed into the pole. Dumbest thing I‘ve ever done with this car.
