I have devised a very simple homemade tool that anyone can fabricate in minutes that will greatly ease the installation of your new dipstick tube into your engine block. I first cut a 2" piece of .375 I.D. spacer material or pipe, NOT tubing . Then you slice it lengthwise with a dremel cut-off wheel, die grinder cut-o
ff, or even a hack saw all the way through on both sides to split it in half, (see pictures). Next , simply attach it around the base of your dipstick tube against the lip where it seats against your engine block with a small hose clamp. Now, you have a surface to tap it into your block with a medium size hammer and a rigid flat blade screwdriver. The hole in your block should be about .350 in diameter. Your dipstick should be around .370 diameter. That is a 'snug' interference fit that won't leak. If you go slowly, carefully and straight, you should have no problems. I have been doing it this way for many years and never missed.
