Let's be honest....

Ok let's be honest I thought about this swap for my 70 duster and I want to go carb.... I realize I need mounts no big deal... The summit swap pan 200... Then probably srt8 headers... Not sure how much they are?? Since I'm going carb what do I need to make it run? Still need a computer??! That's another 250... Then an adapter to make it for to a 727 I think there about 400-500... Plus the actual hemi.... I see you guys post all the time a hemi that runs good for like 500-750?!? Where the heck do you find them?!? All the hemi I see are at least 2000 that run!!! I'm in nj if you know any cheap hemis let me know.... Also being honest how much does this swap cost if going carb? Less that 3000?! That's what it seems looking at all the threads... Please shed some daylight on this... Basically everything to do a carbbed hemi in a 70 duster

The words cheap and hemi do not belong in the same sentence

You should not need an adapter to use a 727. A small block 727 will bolt right up to the 5.7 hemi. You will need a special flex plate to account for the difference from the crank to the converter.

This is correct! As far as the flexplate goes, there are aftermarket flexplates out there for this swap, but back when I did mine there weren't. I used the flexplate that came on the engine, a 2004 truck engine. I took it to a machine shop and had the welds cut off on a lathe that held the starter ring gear on, and removed the ring gear. The bolt holes for the torque converter are spaced metric, and may be a hair off to the outside if I remember correctly. I believe I had to file a slight bit off the inside of each bolt hole to get the bolts to go in. This doesn't affect the centering of the torque converter, as it registers in the back of the crank.

Most of the ones I see here in Aus dump that tech to fit a carb and a 727.

An old holley and 3 gears after all that work.

Must have sore feet from wearing those clown shoes.

Pretty much what I did only I run an Edelbrock carb. My swap wasn't all that expensive.
I fail to see the point of a retro fit if you don't add all the fruit (engine mgmt, decent gearbox with highway ratios/OD), seems like 1/4 of step forward but that is just my personal view.

at what point would the computer need to be tuned? will a stock motor need to be tuned or only after so many mods??
Unless you can find the msd6 used cheap. A new msd6 and the wiring harness is going to cost close to $1000.just to run a carb. If I was going to spend that much I would rather just go EFI. But damn stuff has gotten $$$$$ to buy. You used to beable to buy the complete holley terminator X for around $1500 or a little less. Now I see it's up to $1900. Damn I picked the wrong time to start building a stroker gen3 hemi engine. To the OP the MSD hemi 6 is the igntion system for the gen3 hemi engine

I own the very first documented hemi swapped duster!sponsored build by mopar performance, and glendora dodge in 2006!!,I have all documents of build and part numbers if you need help!
