I am extremely sad writing this. I have mentioned before on here that my girlfriend has a very good friend that has long been a fuel funny car assistant crew chief/crew chief for some of the big name teams. I havent mentioned his name because I was merely an acquaintance/friend and not as close to him as she was. Nor do I like name dropping to sound cool. I heard tonight that he has passed in an odd scenario of events, most of which we do not know at this point. What we do know is that he was in Huston staying there in between the NHRA fall nationals and the NHRA spring nationals and was hit by a car and lost his life. I was fortunate enough to have met and spend time with him in the pits at the winter nationals and the finals in Pomona a few years running and got to know him a little over the span of that time. He was a wonderful guy, always happy, always willing to answer my dumb questions about fuel cars and got my girlfriend and I VIP access to the NAPA team for a few races. I feel so sorry for his wife and little girl and wish I could do something for them. Eric Lang (hop sing) Rest In Peace my friend, thank you for the great memories. We will not forget you.

DAMN. That is horrible. From what I know that guy knew his stuff and was an up and coming fuel tuner.

And he was 47. Wow. Life is short.

@yellow rose he was very intelligent and had a big hand in helping the Tasca car do so well last year and also he was instrumental this year in getting the Cruz Pedregon car to run as well as its run in a long time. Life is short. Please hug your loved ones.

sad for sure ~ may you RIP Eric "Hopsing" Lane. I watched the race, felt bad for Tasca (and others) watching him trying to hold it together when he was interviewed.

That's terrible. Condolences.
Pretty common there.

An old band from England called Blitz came to town and I met Nidge, the guitar player original member and had beers. They went on to play texas...he was hit by a car and killed while trying to cross. High speed drivers and many hwys make it dangerous .
The end.
