How bad is the USPS?

I would rate them pretty darn good. Mate bought parts from a forum member in Ohio. Sent via USPS on April 2 arrived on his doorstep, Australia, April 9.

Definitely better than over the holidays. I cant complain at all lately except the Large flat rate boxes are smaller now.
 
Even the blind squirrel finds the acorn once in a while. Just kidding, between the USPS, UPS, and FedEx, I'll go with the USPS every time.

I could tell you why I hate FedEx but that just raises my blood pressure.

I got burned by UPS and won't use them...

I have been burned by them all but the USPS has been pretty good especially for smaller items.
 
I gladly and willingly pay a little more from USPS. All those other sob's can shove their "surprises" right up their arse! I've had 2 "incidents" through probably 1000 mailings from Canada Post/USPS.
Shipped to Europe and Oz without issue/delay.
 
The only issues I’ve had with Usps is stuff taking extra time due to Covid. But any other time they have been good. Never a problem with any package. But when I shipped FedEx they arrived on time. Kim
 
Well, in the calculus of who's who here is a way to gauge it. All package carriers may or may not go to each address of business or residency. USPS is almost guaranteed to make a stop to each one atleast 5 days a week....

Though the inception of mail products that were intended to be delivered has decreased in volume address counts are up and so is package deliveries....

No question USPS is beating the brakes off the big boys however they are a hot financial mess. Let someone like the mind of a Bezo's run it and game on.....

I shipped a carb via USPS to a guy in PA a few years ago. He said the package and carb was damaged. He sent the carb back and I refunded his cash.

When I got the carb back (AFB) I found he stripped the carb of parts which he likely needed and sent back the shell. USPS didn't even try to help... not sure what they would have done anyway. Yes it was insured but the buyer never filed a claim.

I used to manufacture ash door reinforcements for Triumph TR2 and TR3 cars. I had so much difficulty getting those parts delivered to Europe that I stopped making them. I could ship them UPS or Fedex but no one wanted to pay the rate. Shipping via the postal service meant a 75% chance the Euro post offices never made the delivery. Great Britain, Italy and France were the worst. But I did have one buyer in Germany who claimed to never have gotten the parts yet the post office sez they tried three deliveries before they sent the parts back to me.

I find that VERY hard to believe...It takes a month to get Anything up here to Manitoba Canada...I will not and never again use USPS...I will pay anybody UPS Fedex,I cannot afford the wait times that come with USPS.
I'm sure that they are cheap and efficient for the people in the US,but when it comes to coming up here...I stay away!

Customs is more than likely the cause

The buyer doesn’t start the claim. The seller does. Did you refund his money before it was returned to you? I have had a situation where the buyer wasn’t happy and i refunded their money but not before I had it back in my hands for the very thing that happened to you.

Post # 12, don't call me a liar. The package was postmarked April 2 & it arrived April 9. End of story. Maybe your problem is with the Canadian PO or customs..........

Post #4. Yeah, F/ex. I will never deal with them again & their bullshit. A shipment I was expecting from Summit actually got delivered nearly 2 weeks after the initial scheduled delivery date. I got emails wanting description of every part, quantity, usage etc. Then they wanted a 'commercial invoice', which was in a see through plastic bag on the box!!! Then they wanted an asbestos declaration. All of this was done sequentially, not simultaneously which would have sped up the process. I dealt with call centers in Malaysia, Philipines, Australia & Singapore.
I contacted Summit to let them know how F/ex was treating THEIR customers.
 
All in all, you're right. They are pretty good. We love to ***** and raise hell about them, but for the amount of mail and packages they handle every year, they do a pretty good job.

Well, their name is THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE. So there's "THAT".
 
And RRR, I presume the postal service in the US is govt or semi govt owned like it is here. So public servants/govt employees on pretty low wages. They are not too bad.......... considering.

No they get paid very well and they are unionized.

There is no lower scum in the car hobby then people who do this. Even people who misrepresent parts are better than this douche bag.
 
USPS can measure a package, then next day the same woman measures it again and tells me it is TOO DAMN BIG for them to ship! After I have collected the $ from the buyer. Then I have to take it to a DAMN Postit store and they charge me an extra $100 send it.
I sent it and ate the $100. Go figure.
 
By most standards the USPS is considered the best in the WORLD . IMO it's useless to compare them with UPS/Fed-EX . The USPS delivers to every address in the USA . the others don't . USPS delivers mail , the others don't . USPS delivers SSA and IRS tax return checks to any address , the others don't . USPS is organized by the Postal Workers Union . UPS is organized by the teamsters . Fed-Ex is not . Most of Fed-Ex are sub contractors not employees , (example : Fed-Ex Ground ). USPS and UPS employees get about the same hourly pay . Fed-Ex people get about $4.00 per hour less but charge about the same for their service . I know who my mailman is and I know who my UPSdriver is but the Fed-Ex driver is different every day . I've never dealt with DHL .
 
The sender is suppose to file the claim because their the one who purchased the shipping and they have the receipt for it.
For USPS claims, either party can file a claim for damage but it's usually the receiver that files since they have the damaged part and the part and the packaging must be presented for a claim.

Only the shipper can file a claim if the item disappears.

BY the way they an do away with Sat delivery. I don't care! Only thing worthwhile they bring me besides car stuff is my car in print mags!!

We have Sunday delivery sometimes with the USPS here. FEDEX some too, but never UPS.
