Went for a cruise yesterday about an hour into the drive I stopped at a light took off and the I could feel the trans slip. Once I got up to about 60 it was doing fine until I went up hill the engine felt like it was surging. My rpm’s would raise and lower. It’s a 545rfe automatic out of a 2005 Ram. It slams when going in reverse. I checked my fluid it’s good.

17 years old tranny..hmmmm maybe
I just realized it’s 17 years old. Seems like yesterday I installed it. I have about 85,000 miles on it. My wife blames the sudden “starts” on it. Says I don’t to test my reaction time at every light.

You post a question and give **** all for helpful information. Is this a stock transmission in a truck or some transplant swap job?
You may think that people automatically know you. My guess is that most don't.
This is your opening post:

Where in any of this is any mention of the actual vehicle this transmission is in? There is no mention of a classic car though this is a classic car forum. Some idiot jerked people around yesterday claiming to have a 318 in a 2002 Mustang.

It’s a Hemi swap in my 67 Barracuda. It doesn’t really matter what the **** it’s in. It could be in a damn go cart.

Again, proving my point.
Yes, it matters. Details matter and you provided very few of them. People like you will struggle all your life, thinking the world is against you when all you have to do is explain yourself better. I likely know the exact problem you're having but with an attitude such as yours, I'm going to let you struggle with it.

Thanks for your 2 cents. I don’t think anyone is against me. I do have problems explaining things sometimes that’s what happens to people when they ave a stroke. So I’m sorry I inconvenienced your day to share your knowledge with an imbecile.

Right. And I suffered immensely as a an underprivileged child...No father and two orphanages before the age of 10....will somebody fix my car??? Oh, and I picked a hulluva a day to quit doin meth...

Now I'm supposed to pity you? You are clearly capable.
ALL you had to do was to list the car, the drivetrain, any custom electronics that were done to make it run, the last service you did and maybe a few other bits. Instead of that, you essentially wrote "Car no run. What should I do?"
The 545 uses a transmission control solenoid pack on the left side that is the entire brain for the transmission. Things like Low battery voltage, a pinched wire or a poor programming "tune" can mess with the function of the transmission.
I have replaced the solenoid pack in my 2007 Ram twice in the 381,000 miles I have on the truck. I have also helped others that had the solenoid pack go out. The pan comes off, the filters come out. The valve body is removed and then the solenoid pack is replaced. The last one was about $250 at a NAPA auto parts store or about $800 from the dealer.

Have you reset the PCM?
I have an 07 Ram with the 5.7 and 545RFE. The factory exhaust Y-Pipe developed a crack causing a CEL. Apparently the O2 sensor was throwing a code in which case, I had the same symptoms as you (slipping transmission and surging engine). With that said, is there any trouble codes?

I have reset the PCM. My Diablo trinity will not read or clear the TCM codes. It is factory PCM and Hotwire harness. I will take it and get another scan on it from a shop.

Thank you

I don’t know what this is supposed to mean but no I do not have any trouble codes.
You edited your post after i made mine.

You said...

"reset pcm, no troubles"

I translated that for the readers.

Work on your posting. More description and detail would help. Remember ...you're talking to INTELLIGENT adults in their 40's-80's..not kids.
