I picked up a 1965 Dodge Dart resin kit and am going to make a clone of my car. I expect it to take like a year to build since I have limited time to work on it and it requires extensive kit bashing. I thought I’d put up a thread to document my progress as I put this kit together.

Here’s the car I’m making a mini version of.

So here’s the kit and the basic undercarriage. I decided to go with kitbashing a different undercarriage from a 1969 Dart kit for more realism and an actual suspension. I cut the 1969 undercarriage in half and shortening it to fit.

Test fitting undercarriage for adjustments and check for stance.

Painted a prototype rallye from a 1971 Duster AMT kit. Wrong tire but it looks pretty good.

Nice work on the wheel! I never got that far into detailing, a little flock and some plug wires is as far as I went. Love watching you guys make these realistic models. I'd love to have models of my cars.

I would love to replicate my Dart resin wagon to look like my full size panel wagon

After hours of scraping and filing, finally got the undercarriage and suspension at a stage I can start custom making other parts.

Test fit of engine bay parts scavenged from ‘69 Dart kit. Looks like they might work great.

Didn't work on the model much over summer. Too busy with the 1:1 version.

With smoke and rain the last couple weeks got some stuff done.

I roughed in the underbody and engine compartment from the doner 69 Dart kit and modified the interior and dash from the original kit to look more like a 65 and built a 4-speed shifter and bezel. Still needs finish work. Started to assemble and prime the 340 LA engine that I stole from a 71 Duster kit to look like the Power Pack 273.

This is what the dash from the kit looked like.

Very cool. Now I want to do the same with my current build. Should be fun mini-tubbing, inboarding the springs and fabbing up some caltracks. lol
