I used to obsess with filling to the top. I was always filling and watching the overflow level increase. You don't need an overflow tank... just don't fill your rad to the top.
The overflow tank will give you a couple of quarts more coolant.
You need one if you make a pass at the drag strip. You don't need an overflow tank... just don't fill your rad to the top.
The overflow tank will give you a couple of quarts more coolant.
Assuming you have a 100% full radiator any fluid in the overflow does nothing to aid cooling. The overflow tank will give you a couple of quarts more coolant
i see a lot of chrome or polished aluminum overflow tanks but unless you can see in the tank you
never know if it's working.
hey guys I got a 1970 dodge dart with a 318 in it...I don't have a radiator overflow tank any recommendations that work for you guys?
I use an old vintage soda bottle

you really need to be able to see the level to make sure it is working and continues to work.
When you shut your engine down the temperature rises immediately and your rad will overflow. As it cools it will draw it back in quite quickly.
I would never see it with an aluminum or stainless tank.
