So earlier today I was replying to this thread, Narrowing my own 8.75. Questions.
and I want to post a few pics of my 8-3/4. It was stuffed back in a corner of my shop on jackstands. I damn near broke my back lifting it up and repositioning the stands and setting it back down. Solution? Time to build something.

What holds the housing from turning with the weight of the chunk in it? I like it. Looks simple enough.
 
I install the housing empty, then load the parts.

No back strain that way & the leaf springs can stay in place.

Friction. I was going to add a “tang” that sticks forward and lets the nose of the chunk kinda rest on it, but it wasn’t necessary as the housing just doesn’t rotate.

I did the mock up (shortening, tacked in place) and took it to Currie so they could jig it up and weld everything for me, and build me a set of axles. Then I had them assemble the whole thing and set up the sure grip and gear set. I will definitely not be taking it apart just to install it. Especially so now that I have the floor jack mount.
