Public apology

More than likely the weren't parting them out. When Tucker went under they had a crapload of extra parts that got sold off. So in the end there were more parts than cars (only 50 3/4 cars built). You always find the radios on ebay and every now and then a set of luggage.

I owned a 71 Chevelle for years. I still post from time to time at Team Chevelle, though not as much as I used to. Now that I'm into a 71 Demon restoration, I visit this site more regularly.

From my experience, I'd have to say this site and Team Chevelle are on the same par as far as everyone getting along being cordial with one another goes. Both sites are made up of dedicated car guys who'd own nothing newer than a 72 model ANYTHING if we had our way and if it was practical.

I will say this, there are a lot of guys on the Chevelle site who also own Mopars. If anything, we're nostalgic for that era and as time goes on, we crave any car built in the muscle car era. The guy who has been the most help on our Demon project at the church is actually a huge Mustang guy. His daily driver is a 68 and he has a super clean 70 Boss 302 in his garage. But he absolutely loves working on the Dodge!

So don't get too concerned about your comments. There's always a little squabbling going on, and site like this will attract trolls occasionally. So there is some truth in what you said. It applies to any message board and there are times when it seems like everyone is getting along like saints and there are times when everyone is snippy. It's life.

Had a guy driving a Buick Grand National give me a thumbs up
the other day......That felt good

There are good and better in every group. I consider everybody
just car guys and car gals.

Robert, Of all people out here I am not surprised that you felt the need to apologize. But you really need not to. You were just stating how you felt at the time which is no problem. You are a stand up guy and you have nothing to apologize for brother. We got your back out here man. Don't sweat it.

Oh cmon a guy who just offered me his gold membership money cant be all bad! Dont worry about it,we all have bad days.

Hey, I was ready to fire my mouth off in that thread and get your back. But it's all good.
Just take a gander at Raleigh Rockets girlfriend and the universe makes sense.

Now then, Scamp is trading Nikk and Frankenmutt for a what?

I think you are right. I for one know my a bodies are prettier than those big wing monstrositys called superbirds and i,m ready to argue my point lol

ya know I have to agree with 360 scamp, I get told at least once a show either "hey you should loose the 318 and get a hemi" or "why would anyone want to restore a 4 door?". I usually find the people with the "mainstream" classics (like mustangs, chevelles, camaro's) don't wave or say nice car, but rather the odd cars (hotrods, buicks, mercs, etc) will come up and ask me ?'s. do I get it? not a damn thing. A classic car is a car, and I respect and admire anyone that spends their time rebuilding it.

We (speaking for all of us) are not cookie cutter people. We chose Mopar for a bunch of reasons but passion for our brand is our motivation. If you thought you said something out of line I respect you for apologising. You're a real stand -up guy for doing so. Carry-on! toolmanmike

i don't think that it's a mopar thing, a ford thing or even a daewoo thing; it's a web thing, people have no problem typing things under cover of web anonymity that they would never say face to face. I know i've been guilty of it from time to time. I believe that we should all try to remember what brought us to this site in the first place; a shared interest in mopars and leave the trash-talking to the news media.

x2 I agree it is a web thing, the larger a group gets the more the differences become apparent

Mopar guys are REALLY passionate about the hobby and take it very seriously. Some fights will result, then you mix in the fact that your not face to face and cant read body language and tone, some people get pretty pissed. I happen to own a 70 Chevelle that is nicely restored and I put hundreds of hours into it to make it nice. That being said, when I go to a cruise night or whatever no Chevy guy walks up and says hi or asks about the car, but when I take a Mopar I get an overwhelming response of hellos. Also when I drive my Mopar around other Mopar guys wave, kinda like owning a boat, when I drive my Chevelle or Torino no waves just glares. I say that pretty much sums up how Mopar guys are in general, good people.

Corvette people are more nuts than mopar people. I had a '90 convert (before the wife and kids), and used to hang around with some other vette people once in a while. They even look down their noses at other gens. The C4 guys look down on the C3s, the C6s and C2s look down on everybody, the Z06 and ZR1 guys fight, and all of them hate the '84! One guy even told me he doesn't drive a chevy, he drives a vette, and went on to say how they were a completely different organization, what stuck-up crap!

After a much heated discussion yesterday I said something I'd like to apologize for. In one of the threads yesterday caferacerx had this say:

"when I had my 66 mustang it seemed that all the ford guys got along, didnt matter if you had a galaxy 500 of an F-150, I wounder if the chevy people have this much infighting do the vett owners look down on the camaro owners who in turn hate the chevell guys, or is this just a mopar thing?"

To which I responded:

"From what I'm seeing it's a Mopar thing."

I want to apologize for saying this.

I've been a member here for some time. I've come to know many of you through email, PM, phone calls, and meeting face-to-face. When I said this comment I was angry, but realize that from positive responses that I've gotten from my current build there are many of you who are interested in Mopars in general and interested in me, mainly, as a friend and acquaintance.

From the PM's I get asking for updates on my build and those who call or PM me asking me how I'm doing in general I would say that the Mopar community is, by and large, the great community that I've always thought it to be. Not many folks go out their way to ask a person he's never met how his parents are doing. I have folks on here who do that with me. Not many folks go out there way to help others they've never met with financial difficulties or help with parts. Folks on here do that. Not many folks go out their way to help young builders coming into the hobby. Folks on here do that.

Thank you for reading this.

Robert, really...... the only thing you need to apologize for is being from NY!

Dang, those grilled cheese sammiches at 3 in the morning sure sound good.

If you think that is good how about waking up on a Saturday morning (10 or 11am) to the smell of bacon and the sound of thigh high hooker boots walking across the kitchen floor...not having kids is the greatest!:snakeman::cheers:

Every time I'm out driving and I pass another brand of classic car I wave and then observe the reaction of the owner and note they're car of choice. Heres my general findings... Corvette and Viper guys never wave... Camaro and Chevelle guys never wave... Mustang guys never wave... Mopar guys always wave, except the above mentioned Viper owners... Ford guys will wave, except Mustang owners... Street Rod guys will wave....

hey now cosgig, Camaro guys do wave, I always only end up seeing everyone when my windows are up... can't go and let the A/C out, can I?

I still hate everyone equally. I don't discriminate between @$$hole, total @$$hole and useless @$$hole. :thebirdm: :snakeman: :toothy10: Did I miss anyone?
