Gotta Sell Bruce's Cars.

-
4sp, i do understand. but i am not here just for selling, as you see, i have had quite a few build threads, whether it is cars, or the parts for the cars.

i am not mad, as you are right, people have their opinions, but then so does the buyer. if someone buys it and does whatever, that is their choice. no stoppng that.

like i said, i would like to see them go to a good final home also, just hard in this economy, and it is just sad.

but, to put restrictions on it, she may not get much interest.
she will get the most witout restrictions, and she may be inclined to sell them for the highest price, unless she knows what they truly meant to him. he may have told her to sell them for the most she can get. who knows.

i do see someone on here getting them though!

After posting on this thread, I started to think about my car. Even though it means the world to me, my wife has little interest in it. I just told her, that if something should happen to me, sell to the highest bidder, even if it goes for scrap. Her welfare is more important than the sentiment of other car guys. I do hope that someone on here is the highest bidder though, and is able to help Bruce's family in this time of grief.

Hey,
Does anyone know what all Bruce had done to his cars? I have to sell the 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger and the 1965 Dodge Dart Station Wagon but I don't know what all was done to these cars. I've tried to get a hold of Curtis about the wagon, but have been unable to do so.

There was a lot of work done to these two cars. I have an idea as to what to sell them for but have no clue how to list them and I've never written an ad for a car before.

If you knew Bruce Budbill and maybe what all was done to these two cars, could you please help me? I'm at a loss here.

Thank you so much,
f8green

Mel, I would gather as much info as you can from Bruce's prior posts. Take written notes of things that Bruce posted regarding options, upgrades, etc. Maybe concentrate on just 1 of the cars to sell first, so you get a feel for trying to sell a car. If you can take lots of pics, I'm sure the members here can help you to determine fair market value.

I would be patient and get in touch with waggin before you do anything. He probably has the most knowledge of what was done to the cars, especially the wagon.

I'm sure you are under alot of stress due to Bruce's passing (RIP), but being in a hurry is not in your best interest in my humble opinion.

I'd be happy to help you with the posting of pics or working up an ad, if needed. You should have my email addy.......Take Care C

340plot, this site if full of opinions and everyone is entitled to them. Im voicing mine as to what "should"happen. Of course it would be near impossible to enforce. I agree there should be a list of people that have 1st dibs. Then open it up to fabo members. No we cant dictate as to what happens to a car when someones $$ buys it. Think of how you would feel if someone showed up and started lowballing your wife after you passed away?? There are people that join this forum strictly for monetary gain. This is what I am putting out there for Melanie to be wary about. Although Im sure Wagg's, SS and Cliff and lots of other of Bruce's friends wont allow that to happen. Again only my opinion.

Very good advice.take your time and wait for the right buyer, the economy is slow so you'll need to wait for the deal to happen don't get discourage and give in to a low price.I didn't know bruce but its always sad when some one passes that is liked so much.god bless you.

Well said C, this forum is great and close to the top of the page you can see a tab that says "thread tools". If you click on it, it gives you the option to print the page. I suggest to do that, it might be easier for you to place an ad when you have printed paper in front of you that you can highlight.

I think someone here who is on fabo 24/7 should read all the posts and make a suitable ad and submit it to her to use. I can only imagine how much hurt reading every one of his posts will drag up. Someone truly a friend should do this for her. Have a heart fella,s and dont drag her down memory lane so soon. I can only imagine the pain that would put her thru. Just my thoughts.

I ALSO AGREE THAT THEY SHOULD GO TO SOMEONE THAT HAS PERSONEL INTREST INTO THEM. AS I AM A 'flipper", i would not want to see that happen to these cars, as bruce was one fine fella.

but no to be rude, but you guys are comming up with some off the wall crap.!
how can you dictate as to what happens with the cars after someone pays for them with their hard earned cash.

i know that the thought that you guys are putting into it, is great, and if waggs wanted his old car back, do not get me wrong, i would be more than willing to donate to a better cause, to see that happen. it is just hard to see someone gonna have to sell the cars under such horrible conditions, yet, people that are in no way involved, try to set rules for the sale of the cars!.

i hope you under stand my point.
also, what happens if waggs or another person of intrest is unable to get them due to funds??????????????

I SAY, AS CLIFF AND STROKERSCAMP WERE ALSO VERY CLOSE TO BRUCE, AND IF EITHER OF THEM WANTED ONE AS A TRIBUTE TO BRUCE, I SAY I WILL DO ALL I CAN FINAICALLY TO HELP THAT HAPPEN, NO MATTER WHAT HAS TO BE DONE! MONEY IS TIGHT, BUT IT IS "FOR THE BETTER CAUSE" SO, .............

I AM SORRY. I TOOK THE FLIPPERS COMMENT TO HEART, AS THAT IS WHAT I AM. AM ONCE I RESPONDED THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE PICS, THEN IT WAS POSTED THAT FLIPPERS ARE NOT ALLOWED.... WELL, THAT IS THE WAY I TOOK IT, YET I NEVER SAID I WANTED TO BUY ONE, I JUST WANTED TO SEE PICS, AS I HAVE NOT.LOL I HAVE BEEN SELLING OFF ALL I GOT NOW TO FINISH ONE CAR......PINKY!

LET IT HAPPEN. I NW YOU ALL WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM GO TO A HOME ONCE AND FOREVER, BUTIF THE MONEY IS NEEDED BAD, THEY MAY NOT WAIT.

Before you posted any interest in them I posted the following....
"I think it would be nice to have the cars offered to members here on FABO before they are offered any place else. Especially to the members that Bruce was real close to. People here cared about Bruce and he cared about them. Members having Bruce's cars (if they have the money to buy them from you in the tight economy) would be a tribute to Bruce."

Now reread the post again and if you undertand the intent. I think she should try to get market price hence the statement (if they have the money to buy them from you in the tight economy). That right there should stop any flipper unless they cheated her on the price. Obviously since I posted my comment before you posted an interest so I couldn't have been picking on you in any way. I am also a flipper but just on newer cars but I would never buy from a friend or his heirs to make a profit. I would help them find buyers and make sure they didn't get cheated. Recently due to a death of the leader of a group I am in I could have had a 2010 Dodge Quad Cab for less than half of what it was worth because the widow's income wasn't enough to make the payments and she was going to loose it to the loan company. She had a local car dealer come in and offer her pay off and this mid 80s Lincoln Town car that he had been trying to sell for $800 on his lot. I put a stop to that immediately but she needed a quick sell so I got the truck sent to a dealer auction and she sold the truck and pocketed nearly $8K. I walked away with no monitary gain bet I helped a friends widow and that was a great feeling.

As a family here on FABO we need to try to help get Melanie every possible dollar we can for Bruce's cars. We reach out to other members and why should this be different?

Waggin knows more information about the wagon than anyone on the site. I am sure there is plenty of work not posted that was done.

Cant you 2 handle this in private thru pms. Let the seller make her own decisions. She may like an immediate sale so the healing process can begin. In any case let what happens be her idea. She deserves us to show her this much respect

I may be interested in the wagon if Waggs passes on it, even though I am running out of room at my stable....

Post the info so we can see what they are asking and what has been done to them.

I am in no position to buy either of these cars,I just dont have the money I feel they are worth.they both need work but are really solid places to start. the wagon has the engine and trans from redhot's valiant and the dual exhaust from my waggin, all of which was in my waggin. I had rebuilt a front suspension for my dads 66 barracuda with 10 inch brakes and we replaced that with big bolt disks.all of that on bruces wagon is brand new from the spindles up and then i put the rear with 10 inch brakes into bruces car it will need one rear wheel cylinder as I have been told one of the bleeders is now broken off. I had bought new taillight lenses ( Nos ) off of e bay and that cost me around 200$ plus some instrument panel and other parts that i had just sent with the car when bruce wanted it back so the car has my true dual exhaust system like I made for memike and 2" duals with turbo mufflers all the way to the back and aimed out to the side behind the rear wheels, two barrel intake with holley 390 cfm carb and an unsilenced air cleaner all of the turn signals, brake lights etc. were working.it has new 13 inch tires off dads barracuda..so as far as I know it needs a front end alighnment (mindy repacked the wheelbearings and all the fluides were topped off) it will need the brake bleeder on the rear fixed or replaced and she's a daily driver. It has the pertronics ignition and an msd blaster 2 coil, new distributor drive gear and the valves were adjusted. the shocks are new also. the a/c compressor is locked up so that will need some love.I cant put a price on the car,its a solid car but still it needs some love. his dart gt I will say is the love of his life...he has everything for that car brand new in his shed...i mean everything! dashpad, door panels, carpet, headliner, armrests, trim and a lot of that is nos parts big bolt disks, new front end, brakes, magnum road wheels decal set for the engine..it basicly needs to be reassembled and viola'...last I had seen it needed the front fenders put back on and a battery and would be close to driving condition. not mine so dont ask me to put a price on his dream car, with the parts he had gathered for it it could be my dream car too....i'd be tempted to paint it...I think it will go as a survivor car with the paint it has now but I'm not sure if that is original??? now is when I wish I had money, with the house needing repairs melanie is gonna need it so try not to low ball her to tears, wish she didnt have to sell the dart, her and bruce spent a lot of cruising in that car back in the day from what I had gathered

I have to say with a slight amount of disgust....forgive me Melanie...you guys cant read a post without a trainwreck...you guys suck!!! she asks simply and humbly for a little help writing a for sale ad and you guys hijack her thread for who knows what reason...learn to read and then think about what is written before ya open yur trap wtf???? no wonder your wifes cant stand you.....its all right there in plain engish in her original post...she's asking simple questions....I have been thru my own grieving and avoided this place like the plague because of morons on here...now I'm thinkin it was a great decision....come in ....do quick moderation without reading to much from blithering idiots and leave as fast as I can....I used to love this place but I'm tellin ya sometimes I wanna pound sand over the stupidity just answer her questions honestly or shut up!!!!!!!!!! dont mislead her in this time or overwhelm her with what you think she should be doing this **** is hard enough as it is without you spoutin out crap........uhhhgggg as bruce would have said.... I wish I had the money I think they are worth I'd buy them to save her the misery of puttin up with this ****, READ THE FIRST POST AND USE YOUR HEAD BEFORE POSTING...WHY TALK TO EACH OTHER ON THIS THREAD AND NOT CONTRIBUTE TO WHAT THE ORIGINAL POST WAS ABOUT?????? is that making any sense?????any idea why I would be upset after reading all that crap????? rip bruce means in peace.....resting......ya'll makin him wanna choke you! If I don't beat him to it!!!!!!!!!

Melanie,

I'm sorry, but I just got back on the site last Feb after going through a move. I did not get to know Bruce and all of the help that he gave others. I did realize that he was a good guy and tried to help out at the end. It's a shame that all of his knowledge is gone, hopefully some of the members did get to save/use some of what he posted to help them.

I did not get to know what he had done to the cars. I kinda figured that Waggs had his wagon and then gave it back from some old posts.

I do have a 66 Valiant wagon that I am fixing up and wouldn't mind picking up another working wagon (running that is, not for working as in a job). It would be a haul for me to go down there and get it back up to Chicago, but I would like to consider it. I do not know what they are going for now, as I have had mine for 20 years. It is now a painted shell, with suspension. I am working on putting brakes and driveline into it, then interior.

When you come up with a price, let me know as I would like to consider buying it. I do not intend to strip of flip it. I would drive it some in the summer and take it to the Mopar Nats and Woodward Dream Cruise each year that I could. It sounded great in those video links that were posted. I never thought a slant six could run that good!

I really feel that it should go to Waggs though. He did put alot of time and work into it and then had the decency to let Bruce have it back. If there were any way that I could help Waggs get it back, let me know. But if Waggs has to pass, let me know when you come up with a price so I can consider it.

I am sorry for the loss of Bruce and that I did not get to know about him until the end. From what I have read here, he was a great guy and had alot of knowledge about the a bodies, and liked to share it and help others. I feel that I have missed out by not knowing him very well. You are lucky to have been so close to him, I'm sure his loss is painful. I wish you the best.

You guys should all be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!

Good luck with the sale Melanie.

Melanie I am sorry that I couldn't help you in Chat. I was the member that said to post it here for help and it back fired in a lot of post.

Well said, wags.

You guys should all be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!

Good luck with the sale Melanie.

Well said, bud.

Some of you, though well meaning, owe some apologies.

Melanie, good luck with the sale. Who ever buys the car, may they get the utmost enjoyment out of 'em.

Bruce has had these cars for sale on here at one point. Maybe these threads will help

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=81418 (65 Dart Wagon)

Also too I know at that the 70 Dart has BBP Disc brakes on it.

Here is a thread on that 70 Dart GT (Im assuming this is the same car) http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=43550

I sure hope this helps. Very sorry for your loss. I do hope these fine cars are rescued by someone who will restore them as Bruce would have. He was pretty special here. He was someone I could always ask a question and he answered them nicely and informative.
