I'm putting together a 57 Desoto 341 hemi for my 67 Valiant. Hope to have it running by labor day.
It's a 57 Desoto 341 hemi plus .060" to make 352 cubes. 10-1 Venolias, Contrerras roller cam, ported heads with Chevy and Pontiac valves, a pair of Garrett T3/T4 turbos and intercooling, Hilborn injection converted to TPI injection with 72# injectors and Megasquirt control. I made a mold for the timing cover and had it cast in aluminum. It takes a 318-340 type water pump. Built 727 and 8-3/4" rear with 3.91 posi. Will run on E-85.Sounds cool but some more details would better.
Hope this helps. BillLet's see some pics and some info!

It's my understanding that 10:1 ain't bad for E-85

The mag isn't installed in the block yet. I have to weld the advance shut and the Megasuirt will do all the timing. As far as compression goes, I'm betting that intercooling and E-85 will do the trick. There's a guy here in Tucson with a 34 Plymouth with a twin turbo 340. The engine is bone stock. It has no intercooling and runs 12 lbs boost with pump gas and octane booster. Says he has no problems.HOLY freekin early hemi, Batman!!!!
Isn't 10:1 a little much?
Where do the plug wires go?
There is a brother-sister team running a pair of Desoto powered dragsters up in Oregon. Go to youtube and type in injected Desoto hemi. Too cool. There's a better description of my motor there at Bill's Desoto 341 hemi.I'm actually rounding up Low Deck Desoto parts for a long term clone project of the Adams and Enriquez Jr. Fueler...first normally aspirated car over 200 back in 1970 and only 298 cubes!
I've owned and raced every type of Hemi there is...but there's something about the Desoto that just turns me on like crazy.
LOVE your car man...can't wait to see the numbers!
