anyone know how many 1971 Twisters were produced?

Nice string happening here on the possibility of 340 Duster Twister made - I'm attaching an article from Mopar Muscle Mag that says there were some made for the Canadian market, so, Gunmetal72, you certainly may have had one. Do you remember if there was a dealer emblem on it? And where was the salvage yard you got it from - Calgary?

I've been hunting for the Canadian '71 and '72 Swinger 340 Specials for a number of years and they're rare as hens teeth, and I can guarantee that these would be even rarer (if that's a word).
I bought it from the goverment salvage yard in Saskatoon, Sask. In the province of Saskatchewan you must buy your basic insurance from the goverment, so total loss cars become their property once they the insurance pays out. If memory serves, I think the car was orignally bought from a dealership in Saskatoon called Auto Clearing.

Very interesting gunmetal72. Did you sell it here in Calgary? Man, wouldn't that be one to find again. Say, did you have a Kevin over your way this past weekend? Speaking of gunmetal grey (or in Canada, Winchester grey), one of '71 Swinger 340 Specials in A4 was/is here in Calgary someplace, last we heard it was sold to someone in McKenzie Lake.

Here is the fender tag reading from mine it is a 318 auto hemi orange has dual sport mirrors body color ralley wheels lip molding and plaid orange inserts bench seat column shift tag reads
R11 V8X EN2
EV2 U A51 G15 G36 M21
EV2 L1X9 TX9 120 170531
E44 D31 VL29 G1B 269010
I can't find the cord for my camera or I woud down load a pic the pic kinda sucks anyway. But this is the tag on the 1971 Twister in my pics it is original paint car with just over 100,000 miles and all numbers match the car is a survivor. It not mine anymore as I trade my brother for a 1968 Dart post race car.

yes I did have Kevin at my house on the weekend, nice guy. I sold him a few parts. I owned the car when I was young and crazy and I wrecked it (hit an aproach) I put a bad twist in the body and it looked like it was dropped from a 10 story building. The silly things we did when we thought we were indestructible. I have not seen a gunmetal Swinger in Calgary, I will have to keep an eye out

Yeah, Kevin mentioned he picked up a few parts for his Duster, from someone who had a sweeeeet '72 A4 340 Duster here in Calgary. He's a fellow '72 Swinger 340 Special owner, mine is an EV2 example - see my avitar...

FYI all you Duster and Duster Twister (and all Abody) fans, I scanned the '71 2 page spread ad showing both the 340 and Twister versions. Cool ad...

yes 1971 and 1972 only Years for the Twister option and all had the Shark Tooth Grille. They are rare I just don't know exactly how rare ? I have been told there were not as many Twisters as 340 cars , I believe this to be true due to the fact I have been at this a long time and have not seen too many Twisters.

In 72 the sharkstooth grille was only a option, same as the hood scoops. These were only options for the 72 Twisters.

gunmetal72 may have had the only one on the planet , but was many years ago no documentation , who knows ,Parts were ready available back then , engines, strips, grilles ect.

Still looking for a fender tag pic, H code with A51 package, any out there, i would love to see one .
Ya I'd like to see that myself....if you think about it, why would they even offer a twister package on a 340 car, (which they did not) as most of the items on a twister, are already on a 340 car to begin with, like the sharktooth grill, the rallys, etc. What would you be getting that a 340 car does not already have?..... the hood scoops and ladder stripe are about the only items. You would be paying for a package that gives you stuff you already have on a 340 car. Now I know for fact that chrysler did some odd things at times, like upgrading an item if they were out of a certin item on the assemble line so the car would not be held up, so never say never, but I'd need to see a fender tag to prove it. I ordered a new Aspen R/T back in 78' and I only ordered an am/fm radio, but it came delivered with a am/fm/8 track, so sometimes they did do odd stuff.....

Hope this works ? I tried loading a fender tag and pic of dealer decal.

I say it's a bogus tag

340 cars were not optioned with the twister package.

I don't think A62 would be on the tag either.
