Hello -

I am currently running a MP electronic ignition with the chrome box on my 416, 4-spd dart. I would like to have a rev limiter for the occasional trips to the track and avoid an overrev. I am very new to ignition systems so I am looking for suggestions on which way I should go...replace with full MSD, HEI, rev-n-ator, etc. There are so many options out there with good and bad reviews and just don't know where to start. Any help is appreciated!

Procomp 2031 works great, you can find them under $50 new
Its the only one I use.

change the chrome box out with rev-n-ator and your done...no wiring at all...no distributor changes....nothing...just set the desired rev limit on the box....where in the poconos are you? We are neighbors!

Same with the FBO module.
Plugs right in to your existing harness with no changes and has a dial rev limiter and diagnostic LED for condition reporting.

The owner of FBO took 2016 King of the track at Bandemere raceway running the same exact ignition box.

I'm in the same boat looking to upgrade ignition from an orange box. Anyone else have good info or experience with the rev-n-nator system?

Like my Rev-N-ator. Engine definitely idles smoother and runs better. And with a 4 spd the rev limiter is a comfort. Only issue would be rev limiter is at 500 rpm increments, i.e. 5500, 6000rpm, you can't set it at 5700, 6200, etc.

What distributor are you using?

Not too far from Pocono Raceway!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Just one question, is the MSD system overkill for a hot street car with occasional strip time?

I have a MSD -6AL and a 2 step with a MSD distributor in my 416 68 Barracuda. Also a 6A in my 360 street rod Dakota.

I also have a MP electronic ignition in my modified 340 4 spd (about 22 years old). It seems to be working OK, but I was thinking on switching to MSD box, distributor and coil. I like the multiple spark idea. What is the deal on Pro Comp an FBO? I'm not familiar with them.

I have a plain old points distributor recurved with a Pertronix Ignitor III and coil. It is multi-spark and has an adjustable REV limiter built in.
The ballast resistor is hidden bypassed with a 12AWG solid jumper. No wiring changes what so ever to the factory harness.

I have been quite pleased with it and you would be hard pressed to know it is not stock without looking at it real close.

I am running this also with the billet distributor works great, had it about 4 years now.
