I have one still in the package. Do they work.?
Use one all the time in the shop ! Use the vice to squeeze it in.I've got a metal one that I haven't tried yet. I've also got one of those plastic ones that holds the grease in the bottom and you lean on the top to force grease into the bearing. It works pretty well.

Always hand packed bearings, easier to see if your covering all the areas. Just used to it.
That's how I've always done it and always will. I tried one off the crap on truck like 30 years ago. I don't like the bearing packers because they are a haven for dust and dirt. I never remembered to cover it up and dust and dirt accumulate like metal shavings on a magnet. So, I went back to packing them by hand. It's always clean and gets the job done.
EWWWEE!I carry a packer with me 24/7/365, my hand
The plastic one that I posted does have a lid. You can't guarantee that any grease in a tub is clean, either.
This is the best one by far.I've got a metal one that I haven't tried yet. I've also got one of those plastic ones that holds the grease in the bottom and you lean on the top to force grease into the bearing. It works pretty well.

I have one but usually pack them by hand. Unless you wear gloves the packers are still messy.I've got a metal one that I haven't tried yet. I've also got one of those plastic ones that holds the grease in the bottom and you lean on the top to force grease into the bearing. It works pretty well.
