I went with the 18 gallon tank in my 65 Barracuda. I believe the early A cars use the same single strap fuel tank. Sectra premium is the tank I bought and it was perfect fit. I also purchased the new strap, fuel fill rubber O ring and pick up as well.
ThanksKeep and reuse your stock pick up lock ring.
I thought there was 2 tank sizes when I purchased mine. But I went back and looked up tank size and it only shows an 18 gallon for sale for 64 -66 early A cars.
Are there two different replacement tanks one 16, and the other 18 gallon? 1966 Dart. Thanks

When I replaced the one in my 65 Dart everything said 18 gallon tank. It runs out the filler neck if you put more than 16 gallons in it. I measured it several times, no way it holds 18 gallons.
Aftermarket sending units are notoriously inaccurate...
The one I have from Classic Industries is supposed to be Mopar OER Authorized, if that is worth anything...
You won't find any (any) aftermarket senders that are accurate. Or I should have said "None".I am just trying to figure out the tank size. Is there a 16 gal. tank or 18 only? My after market Auto Gage gas gauge shows 1/4 tank and takes 8 gallons to fill it. It has a Classic Industry's MF430 sending unit, if I remember correctly. Thanks for replies

As far as the sending unit goes, if you still have your original, send it to Wolf & Co to be refurbished. We had one done by them after going through 3 aftermarket units. The refurbished one reads right on the money.
