model kits

Anyone get into building plastic model kits? And plastic model kits of Mopars in specific?

Its how I go into Mopars when I was 14. I still have most of the ones I built in my teens (I'm 38) but they're in horrible condition. I think the last one I purchased was Norm's Dart GSS which I was going to turn into a 67 Dart GT that I owned years ago. Thought about getting back into them but figured I'd wait for the real thing...

i used to build, but I wasn't any good... Here's a pic that you may like!

Did they have camera's when I built mine when I was 7years old ?

My gasser built from extra parts I had laying around... First Scratch built rollcage (looks like crap). It was built to look like it was built by two guys on a budget in their garage. I also made the scoop.

I've been building them since I was a kid. My dad always restored cars and I wanted to help but because I was so small I was more in the way than anything else. So, he would buy me model kits and work on them with me. I started building junker cars a few years ago. They have torn upholstery, flat tires, real rust etc. I actually built them to order for a while also. Here are a few E body's I built.

I started before I was 10, by 16 I had won 1st and second place at the Detroit scale modellers convention, later I built models professionally for about 10 years, until my current job forced me to hang it up. I built by contract and used to make $200 to $450 per model, later years I built display models for police departments across the world. It was never a full time job, but it was enough to keep me afloat for a while. Around 2005 I took on a new job and and did not have time anymore. I plan to get back to building a few models in the future, I specifically want to build a replica of my 68 Dart.

Thanks memike. I have not seen one of those Hippie Hemis yet but I have not been in a hobbie shop in about 3 years, the last time was with my son and Ralph(the owner) asked about my Swinger I told him from my buddy Jimmy Rodriguez(Rodman) who I hadn't seen in some time. Rodman got me back into modeling after a ten year absence. I though he might be on the east coast surfing. Ralph get's this stoned look in his face and say's "Jimmy commited suicide" I was floored. It really bummed me out on building models. I later found out he jump from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge here in Fl.:angry7:
Back to models, I have been noticing the LA wheel standing Dart on fee-bay and was wondering if it's a new re-release? I think it's made by Model King. It would beat paying $45 for a resin 70 Dart.

I envy you flyboy. I would love to make money on another one of my passions. Before I slowed down I was buying more then building.:toothy10: I have over 150 kit's in varios stages of build.:angry7:

I still remember giving my son his first kit. Youngsters have no concept of Dry Time. He was heads down on it for 3 hours straight.LOL
