not sure exactly what I could be missing or what I need. I have no clue how the whole windshield sits in there. This is on my '67 dart. here are some pics of what I have though. is this the missing locking strips that another FABO member mentioned to me? or what do I need to get this all sealed up correctly? going to be painting the car soon, so i'm probably going to replace the windshield weather strip right?

thanks..

67's were one year only gaskets both front and rear. sad to say they are nearly impossible to find. they consist of a chrome plastic locking strip and polished stainless corner peices. you may be able to save some greif and use the 68 and later gasket which is a rope in style that uses chrome trim kept in place with clips. means you have to weld in clip mounts before gasket goes in, but they are way easier to find both used and aftermarket and replace if ever damaged or broken.
sorry man, 67 was a suck year for pitman arms and glass trim.

'67 is just all around a crappy year for Mopar. lol.

thanks for that info though. so you have pics of the 'clips' that hold in the chrome trim? and also where exactly i'd have to weld it in..?

or does anyone have pictures of this? thanks

search will reveal several threads consiring the 67 only gaskets and lock strips. Upgrading to 68 and later gasket, stainless reveal mouldings and their fastening clips, will be the most popular option. Good luck

thanks. i'm in the process right now of looking for those threads..

Here's a tip: The plastic lock strip was the same used in the 80's Dodge full size pickups. It used to be available in rolls and worked quite well!
If your Dart is a post car, I have a used windshield gasket, but it is different from the non-post cars.

I have a 67 2 door no post car. thanks anyways though. and i'll have to look into that about the 80's pickups.

Here's 3 links ( all I had in my list ) that may help ...

thanks. i'll check em out

OK
Here we go
2 door post and 4 door same
Back windshield same but can use 67 - 76 4 DOORS I beleive.
4 door stuff is approx 1 or 2" taller!

You got 2 or 4 door??
67 4 door windshield gasket, not made anywhere and is not going to be due to #'s involved too low. Have to use old one if staying with 67.
Front windshield lockstrip not "D" shaped like 66 & before. It's cross section is shaped like "F".
NOS can be had at Stephens Mopar but pricy at approx $225.00 per install.

If you go with 68 & above gaskets on front, no lock strip, just zipper. Before glass installs you would have to weld, stock ones screw in, I believe it's 18 clips. The ones on the front are 1/2 as tall as the back clips and are not the same.

If you take back out first you will beable to see clips and how they work, etc.
Got all part #'s etc for 4 door stuff.
2 door and convert will be easier for seals etc....8)
I have a thread somewhere that shows complete windshield install on BOF our 67 Dart. Look up my screen name under search and look for thread.
Good Luck, keep us posted!

:(I had NOOOO idea that it was going to be this much of a hassle. I had no plans of removing the glass at all on the car. because i'm not doing a complete resto or anything. Rear windshield and molding and everything is sealed up great and i'm not worried about that at all. i'lll just mask that off when it comes time to paint.

What I need to do is just the front windshield. looks like i'm going to be doing some welding.

does anyone have pics of what the window moldings on a '68 look like. i'll be checking out all of the links that you guys have sent me tonight. Thanks!!

and also i'll say it again just to make sure people see it. I have a '67 dart No-post car. 2 door.

my thread titled:
67 dart windshield install pics, step by step
Will be same install on 2 door.
Also took windshield out of our 75 named Fern and shows everything on restore thread titled:
ABodyBetty's new Baby Comes Home.
Check it out!

Also good news: Precision has a protype windshield gasket in the works for 67 2 door!

so those cross section pieces are the chrome that sit around the window? you've got alot of very nice pics in the other thread too. i was just looking at that one. thanks

How about a 69 Valiant? I'm guessing that there's no new glass available because its a post car.

I have the same problem, but I am replacing the windshield do to separation and going to replace with 68 later trim.

What are all of the different pieces of the windshield? is the lockstrip the trim? or are those 2 different pieces?

consider like i'im a complete idiot trying to remove and reinstall my windshield. 64dart170's forum helped me alot. but I still don't quite understand what all goes into replacing it. and what pieces i'm going to need.. any/all help is great!

In a 67! ONLY!
The 66 and before uses a PLASTIC lockstrip, but had a "D" shaped crosssection and no corner pieces, just wraps all the way around and has a seam cover 2" long in the center bottom. See pics
The 67 uses a lockstrip with a 1 year only "F" shaped cross section, and 4 corner pieces.
68 & up uses Self locking zipper gasket, no lockstrip, metal moldings on top of the gasket held in with clips like on back glass.

No the cross section piece of lockstrip fits inside channel of gasket.

Also check the Ferns restore thread, has pics of back glass clips. Front same but 1/2" shorter.

This all only took me bout 8 weeks to learn, why are you so slow? LOL!!!

2 door post same glass as 4 door. Glass is produced but hard to find. try here for windshield:

63-66 = Windshield, gasket, PLASTIC lockstrip, center seam cover piece
67 = Windshield, gasket, PLASTIC chrome Lockstrip, 4 corner pieces
68 & up = Windshield, gasket self locking zipper type, clips 18 I think 1/2" , tall, screws for clips , Metal reviel moldings 5 or 6 pieces can't remember.:read2:

Thanks 64dart170. Makes Alot Of Sense Now! :)

Oh you're just saying that to make me feel good.
It still don't make a lick of sense to me!!!

If you need any help in locating parts let me know. I spent alot of time lerning and researching to help insurance company replace our 67 glass.

The way I see, you got 2 choices.
#1: Use 67 style, same old cleaned up gasket (takes me about 6 hours each to clean), chrome lockstrip from Stephens Mopar (If you find anywhere else let me know!) Bout $225 or so, 4 corner pieces $16.95 each x 4! You can really screw up lockstrip installing these if your not careful. I wouldn't even let the glass shop install those. I did them myself!! (We went with this meathod due to insurance job and I did not want to drill or weld on the car's window frame. You need to be precise when placing clips for proper clearance, up & down, for molding placement height, when your converting 67 to 68 & up style.)

#2: 68 & up style, new gasket (self locking zipper type), 1 set front glass reveil moldings. My buddie "Yard Dawg" has these in stock for $100.00 a set.
Approx 18 clips 1/2" tall.:read2: Can be had at NAPA.

actually i simply used a 68 and later rear window gasket, put the glass in and bedded the trim peices in black silicone. so far so good, but i'm not sure its advisable with the front. in fact i'm not sure if the trim peices hold the glass in place or are there to just look pretty, but i haven't had any trouble with it so far and i've gone fast enough to test its holding strength. if was going to blow out, i'm sure it would have by now. just food for thought.
