    Choosing mufflers

I am running 360 engine w/340 HP manifolds in 21/2 pipe back to Magnaflow mufflers with tti X pipe connecting. 21/2 back over the axle to 340 SS tips. Problem is at 1900-2000 rpm down the road makes a drone that don`t go away until at least 2500 rpm. Running 3.55 gears with 14 in tires. I was...

    X pipe or H pipe

With A500 trans crusing at 2,000- 2,300 RPM there is a bad drone, The rear gears are 3.55 with 26.5 tires. The pipes are 2.50 with Mag mufflers. The question is will either of these two systems ease up the drone? Thanks for your input

15 inches of vac at idle

There is 4 clyinders with less than 140 PSI which is what the Motors Manual says is correct for a 69 340. And yea the power brakes really suck advancing the timming past 10 degrees does increase vac to 16 inches. but with a 4 row classic ind. radiator with 15 psi cap and a jag fan clutch it does...

    compression ratio

Just a question, the 78 30 I think had something like 72 cc heads. By using heads with 62 cc`s raise the ratio up from 8.4 to 9.4 or more? Possible a dumb question but I think that the only dumb question is the one you don`t ask. Thanks
