Reminds me of picking wallpaper out with my wife.

Loud or sedate...?

I originally wanted something quiet & subdued, just able to hear subtle engine sounds but after getting car running after three years and playing with open exhaust/24" temporary flexible extenders I think I'm drifting....

There's something to that Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde thing.

What is cool for a friday night blast is not usually as pleasing for a 2 hour drive.Noice is fine to a point but no drone is key on the highway.

2 months ago I put on 2 Flow-master super 44's on my 68 GTS 440 and did not like the drone. I followed other posts and switched them out for Dyno-Max welded ultra flows and I am very happy with them.

Yeah, I have Flowmaster Series 40's on my 273 Commando. Too much drone!!

I'll be switching to the Dynamax Ultra Flow's.

Dynomax VT like mentioned or even the ultra flo round mufflers nice deep tone while driving and idle but loud when you get on it. Had a ultra round on my srt4 neon 4" down pipe back with a side dump, and it had a deep tone like a v8 but was loud when I got on it. These mufflers are what's going on my dart when I get to that point

I am running 360 engine w/340 HP manifolds in 21/2 pipe back to Magnaflow mufflers with tti X pipe connecting. 21/2 back over the axle to 340 SS tips. Problem is at 1900-2000 rpm down the road makes a drone that don`t go away until at least 2500 rpm. Running 3.55 gears with 14 in tires. I was running standard dual exaust to sunnit turbo mufflers- couldn`t stand the drone went to magmaflow, I think their are 20 in case and it has a really bad drone. also running a A500 tranny. Need some help very badly. Thanks

ive built many exhaust systems and used quite a few different mufflers including building my own.configuration of the system will also have a great bearing on the sound.as stated before what sounds good for a trip around the block may be unbearable after an hour or so.that being said if you plan on driving it alot id run the system to the bumper and use a crossover of some sort.dynomax ultraflos have a nice note without being super loud.if your looking for a mild note without drone look at ap exhust big max turbo mufflers.they come in a 14 inch body and have larger bodied options as well.there is a thread in the exhaust section of sound clips thats over 10 pages long if your interested.

I had Dynomax Super Turbos on my Scamp (318) for several years but was always disappointed at how quiet they were. Last month I had Dynomax Ultraflo welded mufflers installed and am happy with the sound. It's not obnoxious but has more bark which is what I wanted.

I've run slowmasters on mine. Loud and drone you to death.

currently I'm running an H pipe and Borla XR-1's. I'm very happy with these and so is my engine.

My Valiant has Magnaflows on it. They are pretty quiet at idle and cruise, but get pretty loud when you open the throttle. Best of both worlds.

For y'all sound aficionado's...Straight tips out the back or downward turn in pipes makes any difference in drone..??

I'm running Thrush Welded mufflers without a cross over pipe and they sound great with no drone.
