George Jets' tank look great! I've recently being thinking the same. I cleaned up an original tank that still had a decent "galvanized" look and sprayed it with a satin clear. The idea was to reduce the chance for rust but not have a glossy look.

Although not the cause of the poor brake performance, your parking brake cable connection under the dash is installed incorrectly as pointed out by Cal from Australia. Once you get the "real" problem figured out, you'll want to fix that.

I second that... Great job! I also think the angle iron should be more than adequate. There is usually a decent radius on the inside of the angle that helps with strength. But, as others already mentioned, it's worth keeping an eye on it.
