    what's this 340 marking?

I can't find the meaning of this number, "0064". It seems not all 340's have a number mark here? tia

It looks like a forged steel crank to me, am I right though?

    crank & piston ID

I have a feeling previous owner built a stock lower end for a blower or possibly a stock motor with lower compression something.Ugh. I want no blower, just a well breathing na motor. It looks like pistons/rods need changed, I want forged. Do any of the crank stamps ID what it is?

    crank & piston ID

Aloha! I'm trying to ID pistons and crank on a mystery 340 motor I bought. The pistons are flattop w/ 4 valve relief. It came with a lower blower intake manifold, so I'm guessing this engine was built for lower compression? I'm still learning, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo -N

    Piston id?

Awesome thanks! I like the look/sound of those FHR's. Will the pistons I pull out be worth passing on?

    Piston id?

Yes! Sorry, I meant to scroll up to look at your name to give you credit. I'm probably going to rebuild it with forged components and get rid of the blower. Wouldn't an 871 chew up these cheaper pistons?

    Piston id?

Just throwing the rock back! The 340 was built with a blower setup, so I'm guessing they are low compression pistons. They do seem like stock low compression pistons the more I look online. Like I said prior, hopefully I can find some time to crack open further and get the full answer. Work...

    Piston id?

Hi Kim, Im still here, don't be a douche, eh? I work a hectic work schedule, no need to hate. It's a 340 that I got from an auction with no details on what's in it. I'm pulling it apart to ID everything in it before cranking it over so I know what I got. Sometimes I get excited about getting...

    Piston id?

I’m slowly taking this motor apart to see what’s in it. I’m crazy busy so usually late night can’t sleep is the only time I’ve had to wrench. As it sits, what can any guru’s tell me about this piston? Looks like .030 w valve reliefs....but anything else?

So what's the best way to determine the cc space above tdc...measuring everything or using the fluid method?
