  • I really don't want to sell anything separately, so I'm afraid that I won't be able to help. Sorry my friend.
Ok so, are you saying the other 4 reasons are not the problem, and that youve narrowed it down to no5? And are you saying that this just started after installing the MSD? And are you still using a magnetic trigger? If yes to all, then reread your MSD instructions. I have deff. seen this with polarity reversal. If you reverse the polarity from what it is now then you will have to reset your base idle timing and check total as well.
thanks for responding , I have never seen this , this is very strange to see a split second retard then go to advance??? last thing is to check polarity before I just take it all off and go back from MSD back to mopar hei with the blue box 7500 rpm set-up
Did you read/understand my previous post in your message box? Not being rude, just asking if you need clarification. I went after the most likely reasons 1st. Assuming OEM type ignition, there are at least 5 reasons; 1) vacuum advance hose hooked up to wrong port, 2) throttle blades too far open, 3) bad timing chain, 4)excessive endplay in dist or cam, 5) polarity of magnetic pick-up. Listed in order of most likely, to least likely.Hope this helps. PS; I suppose you could theoretically add 6) rotten harmonic balancer, but Ive never seen one do that.
Yeah so, I got your queery, and tried to respond. I think it failed to go through,so Ill try here. Im thinking your vacuum advance is activated either by being hooked up to the wrong port, or the t-blades are too far open.Try unhooking the hose. If the t-blades are too far open, it may be because the idle timing is insufficient or the PCV system is blocked or you have a really big cam wanting more idle bypass air or theres something wrong with the carb.
