I ordered it on DVD and it finally showed up today .......what an exciteing movie. I don't know how realistic it is but I love the track scenes and sounds from the cars.

the crash was not so nice but I guess it happens....and the love scene was kinda embarrassing and unnecessary.

makes me want to be on a pit crew. they have to move so fast to their driver out in front....I like the sound of the impact wrench wirrrr wirrrr wirrrrr .........awesome ...im going to go watch it again now. lol

Seriously, I really LOL @ "Buzz Chew" Chevy dealership, but it really is here on the island.
 
I haven't seen it in years, I do enjoy watching it. Its good fun! A lot of the story is based on Tim Richmond. Basically it was "Top Gun2" but with NASCAR which is OK, kinda like the same James Bond movie has been made about 30 times.
 
It's Tom Cruise that didn't hold up. What a douche nozzle.
 
Days of Thunder was the film shown at Sams Club store back when 5.1 surround systems were new. They had the satellite speakers mounted on tripod stands like a photographer puts lamps on. It really did sound like the cars went by behind me and going around me. awesome, Had to have one.
 
I like the seen where he wanted to pit and his crew chief said no, there is still a couple cars you have not hit out there, plus we are eating ice cream right know
I liked the movie, I think the first time I seen it was when it came on tv.
I have not been to a theater in many MANY years but that may change when the Sox % Martin show comes to town :coffee2:
 
I loved that movie, then I tried watching it after I drove 20 laps at California speedway with Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Boring, just no substitute for the real thing, I totally get NASCAR now, its more than driving fast and turning left, that's hard work, I was worn out after 20 laps.

Turn right? That's what Dale did and it did not go well for him. Thats an entertaining move but very far fetched. :D
 
Drive Talladega sometime . Its really a great trip , even if you only get to go pace lap speed , ( 80 mph ) . It really is exciting , especially with a whole line of Daytonas , Superbirds , 500's , and the Ford and Mercury aero's . Too bad GM was too stupid to build anything like that .....
 
Good movie for its day. Just a fact for ya Rani, they don't down shift on the track. Once in 4th it stays there until pit time. They use to shift at Pocono but changed the gearing. And of coarse they shift on the two road courses they run. Sorta like the mustang in Bullitt. Steve must have a 16 speed in that mustang cause all he did was shift every two seconds.
 
I always thought it was based on the Earnhart/Gordon thing.
 
Favorite part of the movie . Hit the Pace Car ????? Its the only thing you haven't hit . I want you to be perfect !!!!!!!!
 
Ever since Tom became a religious nut, his douchebaggery has gone through the roof! I have nothing against religion, but when you go out of your way to rub your religion in everyone's face every chance that you can, that gets a little much.
 
I thought they specifically cast tom cruise because of a vague resemblance to gordon. Pretty sure he was on the circuit, as I remember seeing those 43/3/24 stickers back then.
 
Days of Thunder is a fun movie. Unfortunately it's as realistic as Cars & Talladega Nights. It'd be nice if they could make a believable Nascar movie just once. There have been enough real life antics to fill a movie twice over.
 
1. http://www.moviemistakes.com/film333?singletype=factualOne of the first races that Cole runs is Phoenix. Phoenix International raceway is a very flat track. There are several shots in that segment showing a high-banked oval.
2. Any NASCAR fan knows that when you spin in a race like Cole Trickle did that you would flat spot your tires and therefore you would require a pit stop for new tires. You wouldn't just be able to keep on racing.
3. During many of the races shown in the movie shots from the wrong track are shown. For example, the caption at the bottom of the screen for one race claimed they were at Martinsville speedway, but a shot was shown from Daytona speedway (in one shot you can even see DAYTONA USA painted on the wall!)
4. If Cole's car really had that much damage towards the end of a race like the Daytona 500 at the end, he'd be in or near last place. Races on superspeedways like Daytona require the car to maintain its aerodynamic properties to keep up with the race speed. If his car had that much damage he'd probably be black flagged anyway.
5. I have never seen a Daytona 500 race where the winner is immediately left completely alone and is able to walk over to his crew chief who is still at the pit wall and hold a quiet conversation.
6. The crew chief eating ice cream on the side lines, while driver waiting to pit.
7. You can downshift from top gear at redline and go faster ! ?
