Hi guys im new to this website, i found a super rare edelbrock dual quad intake for my 1965 273. What carbs should i run on her? what cam should i stuff in her? im rebuilding the engine right now so let me know as soon as possible.

Well, first things first. It's not all that rare. Secondly, it's not all that good. They were made mostly for looks. They can be made to run ok, but they can always be beat the snot out of by a good single carburetor. Is it a D64 or a D66? They are both the same except the D64 is for the early 273 heads with the different intake bolt angle.

If you want to just look at it sitting in the garage buy the dual quad intake and put it on.

If you want a reliable car to drive stick with a single 4 barrel intake for that engine

Im so sorry, this got posted in the wrong thread. Just scroll on by! I dont know how to delete it. Moderator feel free to delete.

You can always get one of these kits from Summit or Jegs.

I have a kit from Jegs on my Duster and I have cheap Hooker Headers. If it was me I would definitely install headers at the same time. Power steering is not an issue if you get the right ones. I believe these kits are made for the cheap longer headers, cause they fitted right out of the box on mine. I also have power steering. The mufflers are decent, I did however swap them out, but that was because I wanted a different exhaust sound.

This is my Duster with the kit from jegs, cheap headers and Flowmasters Super 44 mufflers.

its the d64, i already dumped 300 bucks on it, so im just gonna try and work with it. any thought on carbs?

Find some 390cfm holleys. Linkage is gonna run you around $100 also. I'm using two 450cfm holleys on my 273. Those carbs through summit racing are $259 each. 390cfm carbs are alot more $$. Including intake I have just short of $1000 in my duals!.

Holley carbs will not work on that manifold. You will have to get edelbrock/carter style carbs. There were some 400cfm carters made back in the day but they are scarce now a days. You can try a pair of 500 cfm carbs though. The 400's would be better for that size engine.

I thought that intake will only accept "carter" style carbs? I didn't think there was enough clearance for the bowls to mount holley's

repeat holley carb wont work I have 2 500 elderbrock on mine with that manifold and linkage was 50 dollars, 2 edb.air filters 40 dollars.they sell special carbs for running in pairs 1803 I think, but mines on a 340.

My old 65 Dart 273 had 2 AFB'S on it and was very streetable. I would go with the Edlebrocks. By the way...what trans are you using....that will make a difference on the right cam and stuff.

You can run holleys (not inline) with open spacers. I personally not a fan of edelbrock, but only suggested the holleys due to the smaller cfm. As suggested some old Carter's would be good to run. Go with the smallest you can find/afford to keep your throttle response.

I'm not sure on what my motor is putting out, somewhere between 260-300. I'll find out when I run it down the 1/8 mile in August. Cam is a comp thumper cam. Cam specs are 235 in/249ex @ .05 . Advertised duration says 287in/307ex. Lift .497in/.483ex with lob separation At 107. cam rpm range is 2200-6100.

Yes, the Holleys will work fine on that intake. You need to get the offset adapter plates that space them away from each other. If some of yall knew what the hell you were talkin about, you'd be damned dangerous.

I never knew they made those. Good info there RRR. You may have just opened a whole new world for dual quad users.

There is a dude on ebay that sells these custom fat wall venturis for Edelbrock carbs, reduces the CFM by 100 per carb. a pair of 500's with these would equate to 400 CFM each. An old mag suggested you remove the air door from one carb when running duals on this small mill.
