Why the /6

805,

I realize that I am just poking..and have learned lots from this thread..and have a bit more respect for the /6...

But I am confused...

The only argument I am hearing other than to be different is for 1/4 mile speed....or like a v8 would do the 1/4 mile....perhaps you put more bucks into it and you are faster than a v8 on the strip....ok...

In real world terms...how does this really help you ?

As far as I know, our speed limits are the same..and very few of us will experience the need to blast down a 1/4 mile flat open..in fact, in Canada if you are caught racing, it will be very expensive...I have been driving for almost 40 years and I never have had the need to do it in any car that I have owned....

Am I missing something ?

boy you are poking arn't you! i recall you had some backhalfed duster? For me its to be different, with my 68 and worked slant i pull people right past the HEMI charger and AMC rambler in race trim, stripes and all. That they are easy to work on, space is all over the place, they last forever (unless you throw #5 rod) they are fine on power stock for a DD and can get over 22mpg. So on the street by your context you need nothing more correct?

Now for 99% of us (/6, SB, BB) we all want a little more, or maybe alot more, even to the point thats its never enough. So with a slant starting at 22 seconds you learn the car and how to work the track, you have more room to grow for cheaper, and the guys that race are by far the best people i know. I have the slant bug and have had it going on 6 years, this coming from a guy who builds HEMI darts all day lol. Yea you cant beat a race hemi, but realistically its not in my budget for THIS car. Now my AFX will be getting a 600+" AL Hemi with EFI injection. Anyways does this all answer your question?
