Crossing fingers the new engine will be in and tested we have a great time every year..so who's coming??

I wish I was, 1975 was the last time I was at E-town with my Dad and Uncle.
I hope you get the car going and have a great time.

Mopars at Etown began in the mid 80's. The first show, IRS people came in, and following year none of the vendors came back. I've been going since the begining and just wish it would grow like some of the other meets. I would have liked to have gone to the Nats this weekend but this is also becoming a disappointment. Drive 1000miles and some good Mopar vendors don't attend.

My Dad and Uncle raced at E-town from the late 60's to the mid 70's. I was a spectator at a very young age. Good times !

I go to the spring and fall Etown meets and also to the Mopar meet. I used to go the Nationals in June with my son every year til he got married and moved away. We got autographs from Darrel Alderman and Scott Gefreon when Mopars were winning Pro Stock. Also meet Vinny Nobile when he ran a Mopar. Ran into Vinny from Orange County Chopper walking around. Always had a great time there.

Yes it's not what it use to be but they still give us Mopar guys/gals 2 days of racing and we always have a blast at the track and hotel, plus it's the only time I see a lot of the Mopar crowd all year..

I'm waiting on my trailer to be delivered this morning, Going Sunday, hopefully make 2-3 passes before eliminations and than make the decision to park in the show of stay for the money rounds. The staff person I called at Etown says you can do both.

I don't think I'm going to bother this year.
I was there about a month ago for one of the "street" nights and got told to slow my car down or go home because of no roll bar. They said nothing to the Hellcat Challenger that ran 11.2 with no roll bar and they busted my balls for going 11.1 the same night.

No point in racing until I get the bar installed.

Ya,you need a atleast a 5-point bar to go 11.49 or faster thats why I put mine in when I first built the car..and your right thats "bullshit" these newer cars don't need one to go that fast ..Too bad I was looking forward to seeing your car again this year!!

My car hasn't changed a bit since you saw it. I may go if I can run with a certain group of cars. They let me sneak in sometimes with the supercar guys (factory appearing).

I ran a bunch of 11.0s last time with them at Etown and the track never said a word to me.

Nice,maybe I'll see ya there:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'll be there both sat and sunday racing in supercar shootout stock appearing class. It will be good to get back at it. Good air would be nice!!

stroked340,furrystump if those were your cars there sunday.....very impressive

Cool air is coming got 3 more events I can attend can't wait to see what the new set-up runs..
I went there Sat morn. They said to be there at 6AM gates were supposed to be open. No gates open or anyone around till 7:30 AM. Went to swap meet. No organization or people. We all just set up and took things in our hands. Worked out ok. Was only about 12 vendors total both days. No people or crowd hardly. Drag racing and talking to people was savior of the show and also some show cars that were showing were good. Not many cars but good. Don't think I will be back next year till it starts increasing show attendance if it ever does. Stayed in nice hotel in Cranbury, 8 miles away. Shame, nice place. A lot to do there at that park. 2 dragstrips there. Heard all about it, how the tax man came in and confiscated everyone parts. Talked to a few veterans there that were there in the 80's told me what happened. This could be a great show. Swap meet and drags. What else you need.

Hows it going to increase if YOU don't show up..people ***** and moan every year the bottom line is E-town still after all these years gives us Mopar people 2 days name another track that does that???

I was waiting for this response. Having gone to this event in its prime, I also watched it falter. No amount of advertising could raise the numbers. In actuality ,"we' were killing it by not attending. The vendor counts go hand in hand with general attendance. No perceived demand leads to no supply. All the extras have to be paid for somehow. Our mopar "heros" didn't show up for free. I miss the crowd but looked forward to the day. I had a great time, put in 3 first time passes with the barracuda, than put it in the car show coming back from the return road. I was to fast to continue without a bar. I was looking forward to meeting some of you all.

its dead.. has been for many years now... they had perfect weather this year and still couldn't pull a decent crowd.. turned out exactly like i though it would.. an embarrassment...

damn shame.. it used to be a great show.. i'd go every year.. always find what i wanted and spent all my car money there.. carlisle was still in its infancy back then.. had friends telling me that i have to check out carlisle but i never did because i was out of money from e-town..lol.. then e-town dies pretty much over night. they were resting on their laurels and never gave a thought to changing things up some and giving people what they wanted.. meanwhile carlisle took over. e-town changed the mopar dates to after carlisle and e-town continued to die. i'm sure the guys running mopars at e-town are trying but its still failing big time..

these days its not worth my time or money to go .. i'll go to Carlisle instead.. its earlier in the year and i find what i want there. people used to say but e-town has drag racing. well look at those stands and tell me how many people are really interested in the racing those two days.. only time people even look like they are watching the racing is when they are sitting in the bleachers eating lunch..

as far as that goes.. only voice any of us have with events like this is our money.. i refuse to blindly support something i don't like just because they have it.. thats just stupid.. if i don't like it i will not waste time and money on it even if it says mopar on it.. make it so i want to go and spend my money then i'll go.. until then i'll find something else to do with my time and money and continue to laugh when i see how empty that event is every year..

every year guys i know that would go because it was a local mopar event drop out because it seems to just get worse every year.. this year a friend paid to vend the weekend. he heard it was getting better from the clowns that try to pump that embarrassment up so he figured he would give it another chance. he went saturday and didn't go back sunday because it was so pathetic.. just the way it is man.. damn shame too.. i can remember the days of wall to wall parts, top show cars in the coultry, racers backed up all the way out past the staging lanes to almost the show cars (almost all the lanes too) all the big name vendors there, big name racers there, big daddy walking around..etc...etc...etc.. its just dead now.. pull a sheet over its head and bury it already... the best it could be now is maybe a one day event..

I think a big part of it is an age thing.
Half The people that made it big in the 90s are probably dead. the rest that don't go, are just 20+ years older and would rather complain about it than go. Not everyone is into the same things they were 20 years ago.
The ones that drove the prices of the car hobby up to get the car they wanted when they were kids have the car but the novelty wore off. They have them sitting in the garage doing nothing and aren't selling them because people now don't want to pay what they paid for the car.
It's a mopar event at a drag strip. If you have a car that is worth running then it's worth going. How can you really go wrong?
The swap meet thing isn't what it used to be in general that's everywhere. How many people with an abody crawl the swap meets for something? I don't think I ever bought anything that I've used on my cars at any kind of swap meet. More parts are available new and you can sit at home and buy whatever you want and have it shipped to your door. So no it's not the best place to find some Obscure part, but you might find something you can use.
The car show? It's a car show. Go to enough of them and you see the same crap. How many people on here are into parking their butt in a chair with their car at a show all day? I'm not into that but I also feel I don't have a show car. Most cars at a show don't interest me.

Is Carlisle what it was 10 years ago? Last time I went I thought it too sucked.
I'd still like to go to all these events, hang out and race with some of these forum people. I just don't have the time myself to attend everything, and I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat.
